BMW ranks first among the top 100 desired brands in China

^Indeed. :D

BMW ranks first among 100 desired brands in China, above Rolex and Apple as well as Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Globally, BMW was No. 3 behind Apple and Google.

BMW has a very strong and attractive brand personality in China. It's seen as sexy and confident, exciting and sophisticated.

Mercedes and Audi rank eighth and 12th respectively, according to the survey results. Both brands are admired, but neither has the emblematic brand personality of BMW -- and having a very distinctive personality is key to being a truly desirable brand.

:worshbmw: :D

No, seriously ... BMW brand has that special X factor.

Not only achieving that via products, but also via other activities (industrial design, motorsports, sailing, marketing activities eg. sponsorships, patronages etc) and via corporate image (being a pioneer, being independent, being bold, trying to sustainable) etc.

Eg. Audi has good products, is successful in motorsports (eg DTM, LeMans) yet it lacks good corporate image.

LOL, that puts things into perspective a bit. In a Chinese polling, you need at least 100,000 people to make it a bit representative ;)

Still amazing that out of 1.3 billion people, this survey manage to ask the correct 2500 people. BMW must be happy that the survey picked the right people to ask ;)

Still it's a very unrepresentative number. Either way the outcome is positive for BMW. Currently the BMW Group is one of the strongest brands. RR, BMW and Mini are in synergy and the brands are out right cool and ooze of Energy.

I would rate VAG second. They are doing a world class job in managing such a wast portfolio of brands which all share components but yet each marque has it's own distinct identity though Seat and VW are slipping into the sink hole of bland-land.

BMW ranked China’s most-desired brand

By Drew Johnson Wednesday, Mar 16th, 2011 @ 2:16 p.m.

China has quickly evolved into one of the most competitive luxury car markets on the planet, but a new survey reveals one brand stands above all others in the minds’ of Chinese consumers.

According to a recent survey conducted by brand consultancy firm Clear Asia, BMW ranks as the most desired brand in China, beating out Apple, Rolex and even other luxury marques like Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

“BMW has a very strong and attractive brand personality in China,” said Oliver Cartwright, Clear Asia’s regional managing director in a statement. “It’s seen as sexy and confident, exciting and sophisticated.”

Although not as highly desired, Audi and Mercedes-Benz also scored well in the survey, ranking eight and 12th, respectively. “Both brands are admired, but neither has the emblematic brand personality of BMW — and having a very distinctive personality is key to being a truly desirable brand,” explained Scott Davies, director at Clear Asia.

The world, however, doesn’t share China’s viewpoint. On the global version of the survey, BMW ranked third, trailing Apple and Google.

Afrikaans is echt een grappige taal om te lezen.....like 18th century Dutch or something

Afrikaans is a language derived from Dutch as Jan van Riebeeck (Dutchman) and the VOC came to settle here in the early 1600's.

"Afrikaans is echt een grappige taal om te lezen" = Afrikaans is n grappige taal om te lees.:D

Given BMW's theme on the account of future Mega-Cities in which Shanghai is such a place. Shanghai will be the next outing for the BMW Vision Connected Drive Concept Car.

Also joining it for the Asian Premiere will be the BMW 1er Coupe Active E ,
BMW 6er Convertible , BMW X1 with Twin Power Four Cylinder Turbo and BMW X3. Finally to compliment it's larger brother the BMW 1er M Coupe makes it's Asian debut.

For the World Premieres there will be the BMW 5er Li - Plug-In-Hybrid (New Energy Concept) and the World Premiere of the BMW M5 Concept Car. For Production World Premieres the new BMW 6er Coupe takes centre stage.

Other manufacturers are making noise at AutoShanghai with Mercedes-Benz debuting an A-Klasse based Concept car aswell as two new production models one which is the C63 AMG Coupe.

Audi will have the Asian Premiere of the A6 and A6L along with the Audi Q3.

(According to Industry rumours ) Porsche are said to be bringing a new Concept to China... (Possibly Cajun?)

And VW aswell as launching models to the Chinese Domestic market will also unveil the next generation Beetle.

It is a material fact that BMW is the "top" car brand in China, way way way ahead of Audi... if you drive an Audi, you're OK, you're rich, but if you drive a BMW, you are at the top.. Not quite sure about MB, but mainland Chinese people are very much obsessed with BMWs. In Hong Kong, things are more equal between the MB, BMW and Audi. There I think is still a very wide preception that MB>BMW>>>Audi.

When you consider M sales in China, we have not seen so much growth for the M Brand since the US. Hence why they were talking last year for Geneva for the M5 but changed tactic to China for the new M5.

I would like to announce here that BMW have donated EUR 1 million, in equal parts, to the non-profit organization “Save the Children” and the Japanese Red Cross. The money, says BMW, is to be used for the treatment of traumatized children, emergency aid and reconstruction work.

The financial aid comes both from the corporate BMW, but also from the people that make up the company. A huge number of BMW employees contributed to raising the aforementioned sum of money.

“We are deeply moved by the horrific suffering in the affected regions,” said Norbert Reithofer, BMW chairman of the board. “During this difficult time, our thoughts and sympathies are with the Japanese people.”

BMW's operations in Japan have also been affected by the devastation. This week the car maker gave it staff in Japan the choice to return to Germany, while for the rest of 800 Japanese employees it has prepared several support programs.
