Maby the Europe need a better quality report system. We should have charts and graphs to keep us updated with results from competing companies. This help us keep pace with the progress.

JD Power rating, I take it this is America we are talking about. If so then this surprises me because this poles take not only the product into account but dealer service to sort potential issues into account as well and I have hear nothing but praise regarding BMW dealers, warranty and service on this and other forums.

How can they get such poor ratings, especially against Audi where AoA are meant to be piss poor.

Over here I also have nothing but praise for the way I have been dealt with. I'm almost of the opinion that these poles are BS because people with no complaints seldom shout about it but those with problems generally want to tell the world about how badly they've been treated.

No, you're basing it on some very vocal internet forum whiners it appears. Just fyi, I don't think I am far off when I say that 95% of F10 owners don't ever visit any BMW related forum. Not to complain, not to talk about their car and not to praise it either.

Fact is, you have no idea what you're talking about here, and are telling yourself what you want to hear. You couldn't be further from the truth. F10 owners on that Board mostly love their cars, and it's filled with emotional tangents about their love for it, however, it's also filled with cold hard solid quality and various character complaints.

This goes with all cars, however, when there's a disproportionate amount that complain about car B's problems over car A's, then chances are car B has a more common reliability problem.

Dude, didn't you know? F10 Owners know nothing! Their words and complaints are meaningless! Professional charts mean nothing! Their words and research are meaningless!

Klier who doesn't drive an F10 nor has ever probably answered an Ownership survey says BMW quality and the F10 are superb in quality and nobody should complain! Nein!

Personally I have an image of the type of bloke who answers these surveys on a regular basis, they have a combover, wear tweed and speak through their nose in the most annoying tone.

JD is an american survey and those board you read are probably US boards as well. What if other boards outside US have a different view? That why internet boards isnt trustworthy. probably, since there is alot lower end models and company cars, but they are probably driven a lot more too. Plus doesnt gasoline has alot more sulphur than in europe? That lowers reliability of engines, esp turbo ones. Ofcourse same aplies to every brand.
I actually wouldnt be very surprised if bmw's quality was lowest from germany's big 3, since they already saved some money by not making aluminium chassis for 5/7er like audi and jaguar did, and merc is doing it right now. Ofcourse they have HUGE project with i brand that demanded a lot of funds. I really hope they succeed with it, then financing for core models wount be a problem.

I never been a supporter of JD so dont confuse me with the past. My point is that neither JD or Internet Forums are a general indication of the quality of a car. BMW sold more than 280.000 5-series worldwide 2011 (more than E-class did). If BMW had such quality issues with the 5er then how come we havent seen a drop in sales yet. Artist feel free to use whatever survey you want but to me it takes more than a survey from a certain market before I speak about quality disaster.

Thats why IF there is some truth to these numbers, BMW should fix it ASAP..before the shit hits the fan..cause there is obviously still time. and dont go down the road MB did.

I just hope the BMW board arent like the BMW FANS..that totally disregard any negative report about BMW..as fantasy!!

Time will tell. Until then I have explained how I feel about carsurveys. Like it or not, its not my problem. Personally I dont care if BMW or anyone else have quality issues. I buy the car I like, no matter what someone else tells me.
