BMW planning to revive Triumph?

Honestly, The only Triumph I know is the motorcycle company. I don't think many people even remember Triumph.

I was not playing, I think they are gonna make a X4, an 3GT, a FWD 1GT and a 4erGC. They are running out of ideas to milk the brand.
An advice, a Z2 like the Toyoru BRZ, 1200kg, RWD, and the N20. It could be made with the parts bit alone.

One can dream, my friend.

VAG's "problem" is they are full of money, and they don't know what to do with it. Perhaps they will go for SAAB. Although they sure are more interested in Alfa Romeo - which is definitely more sporty FWD premium brand, with much more cachet.

AR would fit perfectly in VAG's brand portfolio - since they would be able to attack BMW directly, while pushing Audi much more in the Benz territory: making Audi even more more comfy & luxurious. While AR would be Audi's alter ego to fight BMW directly. AR in VAG's hands would a red alarm for BMW. AR brand & product portfolio are quite healthy - and so it's the AR's brand image. Can't say the same for SAAB - which would need a huge financial injection & total reorganization to bloom again. And the new owner will have to spend huge money for marketing (especially the brand promotion) to boost SAAB image to a proper premium level.

But sure automotive industry is ahead of quite a heavy consolidation. And even BMW AG will be forced to form some more stable & long-term alliances.

Btw, have you seen the news lately ? GM have acquired 7% stake in PSA (Peugeot-Citroen), and they plan synergies from the cooperation - especially for the Opel / Vauxhall brand.

Alfa Romeo is a brand I would love to own but have always steered away before of the Fiat connection and it's reliability issues, under a Germany Brand control (doesn't matter which) would make it a much more appealing product. Not so sure how it would fit into the whole VAG portfolio because Audi have craved a nice image for themselves which sits nicely between BMW and Mercedes, all AR would bring to the party is Italian flair.

Oh, now I see from where the press got that stupid BS idea about Triumph revival.

Triumph revival on again - Autocar.co.uk

I went to check the register. And have found out BMW had applied for reregistration of some vintage logos of MINI, MINI Cooper, Riley, Triumph, Dixi, and bunch of BMW vintage logos. That's it.

Have you seen the "Spanish Alfa" SEAT's New Concept? It is like they have consigned themselves to the fact that they will own Alfa Romeo and are winding down the brand for that eventuality. I could understand Alfa as the budget Porsche in the VAG , because they have the idea of products for it but due to the well-known internal squabbles between Porsche and VAG , would they allow it? Afterall Porsche killed the Audi R4 for it being too close to comfort infuriating Audi's CEO.

I do not see a Triumph revival in the near future. For every Rolls-Royce you get a Maybach and for every MINI you still get a Maybach.
BMW are involved in the Saab scenario because of their intellectual property is caught up in the rights to the brand - namely the MINI platform and BMW Diesel engines.

BMW diesel engines?
The N47 were dropped before summer time.

Regarding the Mini platform there were alot of rumors in the media but none internal at Saab.
