M8 BMW M8 (F91 & F92) Official picture thread

The BMW M8 is the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series (G15) marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. Introduced in June 2019, the M8 was initially produced in the 2-door convertible (F91 model code) and 2-door coupe (F92 model code) body styles. A 4-door sedan (F93 model code, marketed as 'Gran Coupe') body style was added to the lineup in October 2019. The M8 is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine shared with the BMW M5 (F90). Official website: BMW M

I checked the article in Sportscars, the car indeed managed that sensational time around the Sachsenring on normal P Zero tyres. So this is the fastest car around that track with road tyres (2nd is the 991.2 Turbo S with the same P Zeros at 1:32.30 min - 0.5 sec behind the M8 Competition)... :O

This must be only the second time in which a BMW is faster than a comparable Porsche (the first time it was the E46 M3 CSL and the Porsche 996 GT3).

But remember, back then GT3s were not on semi-slicks, only 'regular' Pilot Sports. While the CSL had the first-gen, ultra-harcore Cup tyres. :)

That is insane the must have done some work on the chassis of the M8 bodes well for the M8GC vs GT63S. That is sportcar performance.

Now imagine if it would be a bit lighter...

Yes! And imagine, what had happened, if ///M had been allowed to use their very own platform (like AMG does with the GT), with either transaxle or midengine layout? If they are able to tweak a BMW base model in such a way, that it beats a Lamborghini Aventador LP-750-4 SV on semis with vanilla PZeros ...
TBH: After hearing all the talk by BMW about the upcoming M8 (911 Turbo competitor and all the blablabla)... and after seeing the base platform 840/M850 - their size and weight - I never expected them to churn out such performance numbers! I am happy, that I am impressed now (as a BMW fanboy :p).

BMW are capable of building a supercar outside of Porsche they are generally the sportier brand of the Germans, but there’s no business case, it should have happened 10 years ago but it’s too late now it’s all about BEVs.The M8 is as good as it gets.

^Perfect for driving along Lake Minnetonka.[/QUO...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
