On the other hand, I refuse to accept that BMW is milking so much the M brand. I can understand and accept the need for more efficient and "green" performance cars, but a few years back, M gave us the E46 M3 CSL and all we get now is a diesel 5er

Still, I do like the concept of a performance diesel. It does make sense, and it makes a lot of it. But why does it have to have an M letter, too?

Ok, that's a pretty good argument and I have nothing to say against it

That argument would make sense if it was a BMW diesel which won at Le Mans.

Quite right and to take that signifance further BMW with that 320d became the first ever diesel racing car to win a 24hr race at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 1998. Though this achievement isn't quite at spectacular as what Audi have done at Le Mans it's still an important point in diesel motorsport history and they should be using that success to promote some performance diesel road cars, preferably wearing an M badge.
