5 Series BMW M550d xDrive First Drives/Reviews/Tests

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured by BMW since 1972.
Very disappointing. Chris, don't you go downhill on us please, that vid was really stupid!

defo the worst review he has ever done. Please leave the wank mountains out of your reviews (We already have Top gear for that).

And, more to the point... this doesn't belong in the M5 thread!!! Moving...

Klier can enjoy this video without the subtitles :t-cheers:

Some people have it good. There is a swedish guy who gets his new M5 in two weeks. He also have a 550d on order. :)

First test in AMS

Interesting results: they gave 4 stars out of 5 at the end (the new Alpina D5 got 5/5).

The performance is great, but:
- because of its weight the cornering-ability is no perfect
- the fuel consumption is relatively high
- steering is a bit heavy
- the costs are higher (compared to the 535d and D5 Biturbo)
- 0-100 km/h in 5,0 s (claim is 4,7)...
:t-cheers:

^ That's still equal to 4.8s to 60mph which is f'ing quick for a diesel in anyone's book, especially one that weighs in at 2 ton. The fuel consumption is more concerning as it's probably one of it's biggest selling point along with the emissions.

P.S.
DeDe, do you have the full performance and economy figures at hand that you could post..... thanks.

Very nice. 2050kg sounds good. And that's a Straight 6. A V8 Diesel in the F10 would be pushing 2200kg.

Thanks DeDe again for your scans.

Your scans, however, are for some reason lately not fitting the A4 size, which makes them hard to read.

The reason is simple: I'm only able to resize scans to 1600-pixel-height when I'm at home. But those AMS-scans up there are the usual 1600-pixel-scans.

Nothing at all sounds good abut that. It's heavy beyond belief!!! An F10 M5 with V8 TT is 100 kg lighter!

Next gen minus 300 kg, please.

It should be lighter, because BMW is now focusing on weight loss. The new 7-series will make extensive use of carbon fibre, so it's logical the new 5 will make extensive use of CF as well.
