M3/M4 BMW M4 GTS Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Outstanding. Too bad the production version will lack some of the nice details (like the OLED rear lights), but the technical aspect will be fantastic. Can't wait for reviews and tests of the water injected engine.

No you are getting the OLEDs as part of the exclusive package of the car.
Laser Light will be optional for some markets.
You are going to get an exclusive package what with CFRP bonnet, roof, trunk and spoiler , aluminium doors, thermoplastic front wings and of course a stripped out interior.
The exclusive wheels are designed to be lightweight what with their thinner spokes and drilled-out hubs, even the wheel carriers conform to the removal of unnecessary metal. Its the littlest aspects of weight loss that adds up.

Expect this not just on the M4 Coupe but they also plan to feature on a special M3.
The 4er Gran Coupe will only be available in M40i as a BMW M Performance vehicle.

But its not the end. The M4 will also receive further lightweight additional equipment as well as further innovation.

What about the head light display, will they be changed to match the 3er facelift? Or can we expect that when the 4er range receives its own facelift?

The 4er will get a LCi next year that much is certain.
Of course apart from some carryover from the initial 4er Concept of 2012, including the new design of headlights.
There will be minor tweaks but nothing overly extensive. The M4 will also receive a refresh at the same time. But OLED and Laser-Light remains exclusive to the GTS.

Am I wrong with my expectation that in following years OLED will find its way into other ranges as a successor of LED or is it only planned for special cars?

It will appear on other more mainstream models, both BMW and other manufacturers, over time, such as the new 6 Series and Audi A8.

hey Scott, so which mainstream car will be the first to get OLED and those new laser lights?

My guess: MAYBE optional on 760i, but I doubt it. So after that maybe the next gen M5/6. Those are still a couple of years away so the tech might be cheaper to implement by then?

The M4 GTS will be the first recipient of OLEDs. But we offer two vehicles with Laser-Light currently, the BMW i8 and the BMW 7er. We will see them on other cars in the not so distant future.

I was about to yell concept but there's two of them, that's the real car.

Love the details being orange instead of the car. The orange is almost bronze like in color, I really do like it a lot with the grey exterior. Phew!

I may have been wrong about those wheels. They definitely look much better in motion.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
