M3/M4 BMW M4 GTS Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
I bet that the wing of the new GTS at 200 km/h is not generating more than 20 kg of downforce .I would like to know if one driver (not a pro possibly) can feel those kg at 200km/h at Monza or where you wish...Of course better than nothing but the negative aestetic results are inversely proportional to the aerodynamic results.IN MY OPINION of course. And a wing is a wing on the GT3 and on the GTS in a very similar way.
We discussed on "specialized Forums" for months about the real effects of the bigger wing of the Gt3 , and I am worried that this is really just marketing for the GTS .

I am not sure about your numbers! Even the M3 E92 GTS had 30kg downforce and this not even with the most aggressive setting of its adjustable rear wing. And the wing of the M4 GTS is even bigger. So I think downforce numbers of more than 40kgs are easily achievable.

Probably an indication that the rear lights are closer to production ready than the headlights?
Its an American specification so Laser Light is not officially approved (yet).

OLEDs are coming to a production car. As well as the M4 GTS.

Will be OLEDs exklusive for "special" production cars or is it planned also for high-volume production?

I can tell you a future production car will offer OLEDs. Its still a few years away but you can guess because you know what car it will be.

-40 kg would change the situation of course...but still the look of that wing remains a problem for me..
But probably my disappointment comes from the past. When I announced here years ago the arrival of the Gts..I was waiting for the new Csl..A car that always moved my dreams..And arrived an orange car with a crazy wing ..built in few pcs..costing more than a Gt3 Rs and slower than a regular Gt3.And presse reports were not proportioned to the cost of the car..
Now probably they made the same..and I can't really get it sorry. My personal point of view of course..
Ok she will have nice perfomances and will be sold probably with collectors in mind but is this enought for all BMW fanatic as I was in the past?

This phase of the GTS will feature many exclusives enough to gather excitement and progress innovation. Apart from the Water injection technology, dynamics have been tuned to be more tighter and track orientated than the standard car, plus the upper level of the car -bonnet,roof and bootlid is fabricated from CFRP.

If its coming to the US, then that means it probably won't be a stripped out interior (maybe you lucky Europeans will get that option). I don't think this car is going to be anywhere near as hardcore as the last GTS was. I say that because I don't think BMW thinks a car like the old GTS would sell well enough in America to justify homologation. I home I'm wrong though.

I do actually kind of like the wheels. Its a nice through back to the E30 M3 wheels and faux spoke wheels of that era. Not completely sold on the orange part though.

That was probably the intake manifold disrupting the space-time continuum which did that. The CSL sounded amazing. I am determined to import one to the US the second they become old enough to be classified as antiques (which I think is only 25 years old).

The CSL held its own against a lot more expensive cars (in terms of sound). Go to 32:53, I tried to upload it so it would start at that time but it wouldn't do it.

After the GTS which will be a limited model.

CSL?

It's not really orange, looks like it has a bit of bronze or something in it as well.
I quite like it. And I really hate orange shaded BMW cars.

The CSL was just as exclusive, you're looking through rose tinted glasses.

The 6er. But the M5 will have OLED rear lights. As will the X7 and 7er.

Its known as Acid Orange, it was chosen to compliment the Frozen Dark Grey paintwork which will be available on the production car. Other colours they evaluated to accompany Acid Orange was Long Beach Blue and Red.

The 7? Introduction within of LCI?
In the last years it was a normal step to equip LCI models with LED backlights. So it could be possible that OLED it's the next progress of lighting and it find its way into production within a LCI.
:)

Well if you look at Laser-Light for example, especially the cost of the option between the BMW i8 and the 7er and you can see how costs will eventually come down to offer them on other vehicles like the new 5er which will also offer them as optional equipment. It is not unthinkable to see them being offered on the 3er.

The production M4 GTS will be launched at the end of the year.

I was really surprised about the costs for Laser Light for the 7er because I knew the costs at the i8.

Surprisingly 8 out of 10 i8's are sold with this option.
Customers will pay for new technology as always has been the case either with the first i-phone or first plasma TV even though progress eventually makes the case more cost effective.

Already put my house up for sale in the property market. Where do I sign to order this "sex on wheels"!?

I take it those 2 out of 10 i8's are US market cars then.

I much prefer the purer styling approach applied to the M3 CSL to that of the subsequent M3 GTS and the same holds true here. I love the ducktail boot lid of the CSL - why don't we see a reinterpretation of that them rather than another bolt-on ironing board. Where's the focus M GmbH?

Where's the focus M GmbH?

The focus? It has a big ironing board on the back... like a race car. It has a large splitter (two of them actually)... like a race car. It has a hood airvent... like a race car. The only thing it didn't get was a more race-car inspired rear diffuser.

While it certainly is not as pretty and seamless as the enhancements given to the E46 M3 CSL, it's focus seems pretty clear as a track car. I imagine the same enhancements to an E46 CSL would make it an even more focused performance machine.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
