Vs BMW M vs MB AMG (posts moved from other threads)

By taking minimal 100k off the price every time? That's not a successor, that's an entirely new model. An AMG costs as much as a base Carrera, a far cry from the SLS, and even further from SLR.

And as for the M760Li and S600 Maybach? Exactly the same price basket. Don't know what you're talking about with more leather.

Just amazing!! What a quote!!!

Yeah, it's called a shift in marketing strategy. They also made their target with the SLS, the 8-Series and the Z8 didn't. They failed, the SLS did not.

Yet one is just a 7-Series and the other at the very least aspires to be more and is. Try again.

The Z8 was never meant to be a car with successors. It's a unique standalone model, and we should be happy we have even gotten this car in this first place, as the Tokyo car show Z07 concept car wasn't even meant for production in the first place.
As for the 8er, it's too far from me to say anything about succes. But lets be straight here, if going from an SLR to AMG GT is a shift in marketing strategy, so is going from 8er to 6er.

And the S class is just an S class. Try harder next time. Maybach is nothing but a simple trim level, comparable to BMW Individual or something. The only S class out of reach of the 7er is the S65 AMG, price wise. And even then the gap isn't overly big.

I gotta say though, this is a fine looking piece of proper German premium performance:

Mercedes should bring back the AMG name on the rear wheelarch. Looks extremely sexy and powerful!

It's a spectucular car without a doubt, but other than some extra room in the back, it's got nothing over a V12 7er.

Same league, same price, similar tech, equally luxurious.

Well this is how we gonna' do this:
f**k BMW,
f**k M,
f**k BMW AG as a staff, car label, and as a mother f***ing crew.
And if you want to be down with BMW,
Then f*** you too.
Chino XL, f**k you too.
All you mother f***ers,
f**k you too.

Not to wade too deep into this cess pool... but as far as Alpina is concerned, for a consumer, it is 100% BMW - you buy the car from BMW dealer, you get BMW warranty, you take it for service at the BMW dealer, you buy parts from BMW and you get all BMW programs - roadside assistance, courtesy services. Heck, you can even configure it in the BMW website.

What makes a V12 7er any more special than a Maybach Mercedes S600? It doesn't look any different to a 740iL with M-pack. Its a fake M-car as well. The Maybach is more luxurious and certainly is even more unique.

If were talking about exteriors, whats different about the Maybach except the grille?

Oh and the C pillar badge!

What on earth is a maybach then?!

IMO, its a XXL S sedan with better leather, and cushions?

A stretched version of the S-Class, the BMW isn't even that. The 7-Series can't even make a dent in the S-Class position on the market so comparing it to a Bentley is even more silly. Sorry try again.

Nice excuse for the Z8, still doesn't cut it because they had trouble selling the few that they made, at least in the U.S. What about the 8-Series? FLOP.

Nope going from a 8 to a 6er isn't a marketing strategy because BMW is going forward with both of them.

Yep it's just an S-Class, and it still has a higher position in the market and in status than ANY 7-Series. The 7-Series can't even manage to knock off or hurt the position of the S-Class so it doesn't compare to a Bentley or Rolls. Mercedes is at the very least in the conversation with those cars. BMW is not. FACT. Try again.

The rear door and C-pillar window is totally different to the standard long wheelbase S-class.

bentley? What are you on about?

What does BMW have in the same space at the S600 Maybach? If it is "nothing special" then why is BMW about to try to compete with it?
