Swedish car magazine Auto motor & sport says the engine is an I6 with turbo and approximatly 400 bhp. Also the article says the car will be very enviromental friendly... lets hope for the best

what is this?
this is a plane? this is a bird?
no no no this is a bmw
ONLY FLYİNG İS BETTER

if its 4 Gina Wild - then its a black hole :D
therefore black plastic film and a hole for mans head ;)
uuuuuhhhhh - looks very sexy!

So AMS is saying I6 TT with 400 hp?
I hope the light part is no more than 1200 kg then....

I6 TT with an output of 400hp? Hmm that's different. The car is most likely made out of 70% aluminum or something

Aluminium and carbon fibre probably. I want it to be lighter than a Scuderia at least :t-drive:

I think that they engine itself is a mere showcase similar to how mercedes presented the F700 with a ground breaking 1.8l engine. After all 400hp will be nothing when(if) this car hits the showrooms in 2010-2012.

400 hp is a hell of a lot of power if your car is extremely lightweight...We're not talking about a 2k kg SL or 1800 kg R8 here probably.

As always a Mercedes car in a BMW topic. Can´t stand how the moderators don´t do anything with this.

I wasn't talking about Mercedes in particular. Just raising the point that sometime manufacturers to a 2-in-1 showcasing a new car and future engine at the same time.

This time i was joking, don´t bother man :).

I think this is very good for BMW, nowadays both Merc and Audi seem to have better sport cars than BMW.

To get the proportions right here... 400 bhp in an extremely environentally friendly car is a lot. How many of you here on the board have tried out a car with more than 400 bhp? Some? Maybe... did that car have a curb weight of less than 1,300 kgs? No? Well, I can tell you it is a blast... a killer... I was afraid the whole time.. (and I can tell you all that the Queen is not scared that easily).

Yeah, in the right car 400hp is some decent power but is not going make jaws drop in two-three years or so. The Scuderia one very bare car built using very exotic materials making it expensive like crazy. From what Scott and Eni have said BMW are not planning a car of such a high caliber. We're talking €250 000 which is 599GTB and LP640 money here. Isn't the new Z9 or whatever supposed to be some SL63/R8 go-getter?
I'd say that engine will most likely be for demonstration of "efficient dynamics" meant to sit under the hood of a 5er, X6 or 7er.

J_M some crap study engine with hydrogen power? Sounds almost impossible, because right now they can't even get 250 hp out of the 760h V12....

Dr Dunkel, yeah you're right. 400 hp in a car with a weight of less than 1300 kg would be so cool  What was the car you drove btw?
