3 Series (G20) BMW G20 3 Series LCI - First Official Pics!

The BMW G20 is the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: G20 (sedan), G21 (wagon/touring), G28 BEV (i3), and G28 (long-wheelbase). Predecessor: F30 3 Series. Successor: G50 3 Series. Production: October 2018-2016.
How is the 7-series Alpina yet to come ,when the 3-ser Alpina came after a week of unveiling the original.
Hmm. The hypothetical B7 would probably be based on the 7 rather than the i7. It could probably be Alpina's first venture into the Electric World? Or maybe they don't have a solution yet as per the customer base who are not overly enthused about an electric-based Alpina yet. They could be giving breathing room in regards to letting the i7 become established?

Then why would it be based on the ICE 7-er instead of the i7? A B7, 'B7e', 'iB7', would be based on the closest platform available, surely? Alpina indicated a Hybrid powertrain was in the works a couple of years ago, but with the brand purchase by BMW, and the announcement that all current Alpina vehicle programs would stop, and the fact cars like the Alpina i8 didn't come to fruition on technical grounds, I'd find it tough to believe even a hybrid B7 is in the works - it's difficult to achieve, it's already a niche, and the market window is small. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong... prove me wrong.

So no Alpina B7 this time at least you saying?

Current 7-er will exist to 2029 based on a typical life cycle. BMW take full control of Alpina in 2026 (LCI time for the 7-er), and have already stated that all current vehicle programs will stop at this point. Even if the B7 dropped now, that's 4 years max, probably 2-3 given B7 is not even spied. It's already a low volume car, why would they do it for half a life cycle? i7 top dawwg is a year off launch (the M70), and the top ICE will be the V8 M760, with an M750 also available... other than paint and trim what would Alpina do that's different, and how would it do anything other than cannibalise new BMW G70 products, given the time available?

I'd love to be wrong, but I don't see it.

Wow, always nice

I didn't know anything about that stop for 4 years, will it be to prepare special things and promote the entire sub brand?

On the other hand, I think they took advantage of the packaging and hype of the new 7 to make their version, but already injecting it with certain advantages of its parent company and new boss

I'm only going from the press-release.

Alpina could come back as the L7 rebirth, it could come back as a wheel package... it's too early to say... all I'm saying is that I wouldn't take the next generation of vehicles foregranted. BMW have said Alpina is stopping in 2025, what they do after that is anyone's guess.

Sure, now it's guessing, but I don't think they bought it as a "wheel package", rather one of two other much more ambitious possibilities, we'll see

These handsome Alpina's have some lovely tweaks, both in and out. The LCI B3 is 'almost' on G80 M3 everyday levels of performance, albeit different in character.

The Alpina rear looks so much better, is that just painted in body color or is there something else that was changed? The front bottom lip looks a little different, however that looks pretty close too.

Yes, the whole gloss black insert (diaper diffusor and triangles) has been painted body color.
