3 Series (G20) BMW G20 3 Series LCI - First Official Pics!

The BMW G20 is the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: G20 (sedan), G21 (wagon/touring), G28 BEV (i3), and G28 (long-wheelbase). Predecessor: F30 3 Series. Successor: G50 3 Series. Production: October 2018-2016.
'breaking the traditional 7 year model cycle.'
Basically they indicate that the current 3/4 series will remain in production until 2027/28, it is surprising and at the same time a clear indication that the "Neue Klasse" that will be the next "i3" will be only electric, the g20 came out in 2019, it will live 8 years instead of 7, it's not so scandalous, I guess while they decide whether to put an ICE on the Neue klasse, or the evolution of the EV market and its sales no longer warrant it

Model portfolios and life cycles will dramatically change over the next 8 years. Some models will be consolidated, others will have extended life cycles and a few RWD sedans will become FWD to merge with their entry level siblings.

Still plenty of discussions around the next 3 Series. The first car on NK platform will be a different one though

I wonder if BMW is going to produce two slightly different bodies and platforms for the 3 Series family? One platform for the pure I.C.E., M.H.E.V. and P.H.E.V. vehicles. Another platform for a fully B.E.V. vehicle. Unlike the G26, G70, U11 and G60 where they are all shared the same platform with various drivetrains.

I am really curious about the project code name for the eighth generation of 3 series whether BMW is going to use the G letter or moving forward with the N.K. instead.

If the future of BMW beyond 2030 is electric when I wouldn't be surprised if the 2Series gran coupe grows in size and becomes a FWD "3-Series.

I agreed with a fact that the future 2 Series Gran Coupé might grown up and becoming a front wheel drive 3 Series.

Stay tuned for an article on that
That’s sounds interesting, whether BMW is continuing the legacy of 3 Series during the years of 2025 towards 2027 with the code name G or start fresh with the N.K. instead.

Wow the front is so aggressive looks like an M5 ?

Interesting that I still have to justify the reporting. But I guess I still have to work on that reputation, a decade later.

Not casting doubt, just curious if there is more to know at this stage.

According to the latest update on the G80 Bimmerpost site: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901686

"The primary production plant for Neue Classe cars for the North American market will be SLP. It will start with two models. NA0/NA1 i3 sedan and touring will be successors to G20/G21."

So I guess the next generation (Mark VIII) of 3 Series Limousine and Touring are probably going to be called NA0 and NA1 as the replacements of the G20 and G21.

Its a tough choice between the new M3 Touring or the Alpina B3 Touring, both look absolutely gorgeous. I probably like the front of the Alpina better and maybe marginally prefer the rear of the M3 Touring.

So G20 is going to be the last official ICE 3 series. EOP extension and second scheduled refresh tells it all...

How was BMW able to make a case to renew next-gen ICE models for X3-X7 alongside EV counterparts, but not for their best selling global model 3 Series?
