Having driven a W211 for some years, I think it´s pretty clear where the S-Class interior comes from. Saying its design comes from the E65 is like saying the G11 interior comes from the W222 because it has metal buttons, digital speedo or magic drive options. Nonsense IMO.

PS: Someone should send that pic of the W222 and the W205 to MB and tell them good job or something. No way to cars can look so alike. Baaad!!

I would say it's close enough haha

Maybe I'll try Maybach badges on a C180 as well
I seriously dont know which one is which, seriously what did the guy who designed the c do ? Just shrink the s class and voila ? Did he even bother to do a sketch ?

Yes. The whole layout of the the basic interior is a straight E65 copy.
I think most of the cars nowadays with a screen on top of the dash you could say is a copy of the E65 as that was the pioneer for car infotainment. The W221 S-class interior did get some comments of been a slight copy of the E65 but it was an improved copy of the BMW with notably better looking dash layout and more elegant and better placed controls and infotainment screen. The E65 had some ergonomic problems with the placement of some of its buttons and controls.

It literally looks like an S Class at 90% the size.
But check page 12, I posted a picture of 3 Mercs together, an S Class, an E Class and a 190E. They look the same. It's been like that always, but the new C is the car that resembles the most it's major sibling. I've only seen that before with Audis

Yeah, pretty much haha.
The C Class looks bigger than it is being at the foreground, so they look the same size. In person the S Class is really more imposing but my point is, and I think it's proven, that you can fool someone into thinking an S Class is a C Class with just a badge

Mick, I think Citröen introduced the perfume dispenser way before the W222
:)

True. It was first introduced in 2004 Citroen C4. Citroen C4 was also the first European car with lane departure warning system (Toyota introduced the system years earlier in Japanese market only).

Not sure on this one, but alas, IIRC, Mini was the brand who pionnered ambient lighting....???

Yes, and we all know BMW's E65 interior inspiration came from a W123 Taxi.

Actually, it came from modern infotainment systems, how to handle all the info and where to put the screen for better view.

But please tell me how the W123 navigation system works, or in what way it operates the high tech settings.
Oh, wait....

If we are gonna thank someone, it should be the first complex life forms with nucleous in it's cell. Thanks to that humans came to exist, allowing the creation of Daimler Benz and BMWs "advanced" infotainment systems.
