Great find just_me, that first picture is the best picture of the rear of this car I have seen, just looks so awesome!

That's neat, it is actually a Mercedes invention - first seen the W124 coupe

It is a Mercedes invention and is used on the current CLK. The BMW version looks ultra cheap. An unfinished looking plastic arm that extends a foot from the panel? The bottom of it isn't even smooth but has holes from the production and that rubber piece sticking out looks awful. Talking about halfa$$ing something. It doesn't even seem like it will always catch the seatbelt and it looks highly probably that the buckle can get stuck on it.

The interior lighting looks like a sad afterthought add on. BMW just tacks on a piece of plastic that sticks out of the door to run across the door? It looks unintegrated and done for the sake of having it.

I guess you won't be buying one then PHYBENZ :D

MB fans and BMW fans never seem to think the same. MB fans like to complain on BMW and BMW fans like to complain on MB. Weird world :D Of course I disagree strongly with Phybenz ;)

I dont know but it seems that Audi fans are getting along better with BMW fans than with MB fans. Its not often you see a Audi fan complain on a BMW. Thats weird too :D

seriously that strech arm does not look good..

its only visible when you need the put on the seatbelt, its not streched out all the time :D So I dont see the problem with the design of it.
To me such thing is pointless, I never missed it in my cars so I dont see why BMW suddenly starts using it :t-hands: Ridicolous!!!

I actually think you are right about that Just_me.

I honestly think the Merc boys are the most obsessive, they also don't deal with criticism at all well - they are pretty good at giving criticism though ....especially toward BMW.

Seriously, wherever outrageous BS is being told, a manic Mercedes fan is usually the perpetrator.

lol.. Roberto have had bad experience with some MB fans these last days..and now every MB fan is a crook.. well im okay with it.. ile be your MB fan to blame.. BRING IT ON:D

Yes I am am an avid MB fan, so I think because BMW is the main rival or at least historically it has been, I tend to be more critical of BMW's. But both of those obsevrations I don't think are far stretched in terms of perceived quality. To add to the lighting strip observation, check this out. Look at the upper part of the lighting strip on the left right above the grab handle and you will see light creeping through the gap, which I don't think is supposed to be there. Something wasn't bolting very well together.

Overall I think the 3 series is a very un-BMW-like design. Boring, bland, uninspired, and the wheel wells in a profile shot do not look big enough. The front reminds me of an S40 volvo actually.

I was being lighthearted with those comments PHYBENZ, you are of course entitled to your opinions ...........also, I agree with your observations ......as I said much earlier in this thread, the interior does look "cheap" in places.
