Videos BMW 840d v Mercedes E400d vs Audi A8 50 TDI - Diesel DRAG RACE, ROLLING RACE & BRAKE TEST

I wouldn’t quote Carwow but they are sure entertaining. I mean I wouldn’t quote them on drag races but most their in depth reviews are well thought after especially about quality, space and practically if you care about those kinds of things.

I'm actually not against these channels putting out this stuff under the banner of simple light entertainment. The problem comes when conclusions are drawn about, what is in reality, fractions of a second, or foot or so over a much longer distance. If you want accurate high resolution data, you need tighter control over the variables than Carwow *seem* to - or just run the tests in an entirely different manner. 300mm difference on a braking test initiated by the drivers judgement of when he passes a fixed point on the road is meaningless... it's a difference in when they hit the brakes of 0.011 seconds, which is far, far less than average human response time... it's noise, not a conclusion.

In that sense it's like any TV show. Even Top Gear exists thanks to the advertising of its commercial breaks, the more people see it, the more expensive it is to advertise and all brands want to be, so promoting and monetizing a web site is the same and makes it possible to do the things, videos, programs etc.

Accuracy will always be difficult on the certainty of the measurements, but they give an idea quite close to reality

In any case, it is good that they exist and be able to see and enjoy them, something that few years ago you could not even dream about and you had to wait for weeks to see if in any TV or cable car program happened to try our favorite cars.
See the good side

Nowadays we are spoilt for choice for entertaining car shows on YouTube. Before it was only Topgear and for car technology Beyond 2000 used to show cars of the future on TV

And then again nothing on youtube comes close to Fast lap on AMuS TV. The test of the 2018 M5 Schnitzer is IMO the best one filmed ever.

Here the BBC world broadcasts and commercial breaks are endless to the point that the program lasts only one hour (edited) and the remaining 30 minutes are pure commercial breaks
In the BBC I understand is how you indicate, it is an hour and a half of program without cuts.

I was pretty surprised at the outcome.

That E60 M5 is a legend, I just love the noise that engine makes and at higher speed it pulls ĺike a jet.

And the downside is we get cringe-worthy material from every walk of life...like those dobre brothers...or whatever their called :banghead::wtf::t-crazy2:

Do you have the link for this?

Tell me about it. G-Power turned their 888 bhp Hurricane RR into the world's fastest saloon car. To date, I believe it still holds that record set almost a decade ago.

Regretfully they do not upload the full version anywhere. I missed to put the TV on Record when it was broadcasted and I don't know why I couldn't record it from the archive before it expired. I was in a hurry to go with the family on vacation, all the luggage was packed and everybody was ready (wife, three kids and two retrievers) when I saw it on the TV. I couldn't stop watching it five times in a row (each time 40 min) with the family waiting on the door. Christian Menzel is such a class above all other presenters including Gerbhardt and Chris Harris.

In the UK we have to pay a TV license fee and that pays for the BBC with no adverts. Basically it's so that everyone is forced to have the state PR channel.

Oh give over with your utter nonsense. The BBC, whilst it has its faults, is a wonderful broadcaster and is the envy of much of the world. Some of the output, such as David Attenborough's wildlife programmes, are truly amazing. Besides which, Channel 4 is publicly owned too, and it has adverts.

The idea that all channels in the UK would be commercial is horifying. Imagine a world with just Sky and ITV.

Anyway, it's against the rules to discuss politics, so I suggest you stop now.

Apart from Top Gear (and David Attenborough), what else do they have these days? Ch4 pays for itself, but BBC1 and 2 are a waste of bandwidth and money. Sky is just a middle man that inserted itself where there was no requirement for it and started charging people.

"Forced" to have (and be able to ignore) state owned broadcasts is, in my humble opinion, better than voluntarily paying for the privelige of suckling at the teet of Emporer Murdoch, or any other of his personal-agenda-serving ilk.

The license fee is bugger all, I've not had the means to receive conventional or satellite broadcast since 2012 but I still pay it... A small contribution to offer the populous at least some entertainment that isn't infected with rampant consumerist crap.

There are lots of good freeview channels that sustain themselves though. Most of the decent stuff is on the ITV-related, Ch4-related or Ch5-related channels anyway. The license fee was actually worth it before Murdoch stole all the boxing and football etc. I wouldn't pay for Sky either. That we can agree on.

So much this.

I am proud of the BBC and the Dutch version NPO. Without them, we would be so much more in the dark.
