Hot! BMW 7 Series M760Li vs Key Rivals - Play nice kids...

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
I have to say I'm disappointed. Firstly, we haven't got a new V12, just the one from the Wraith. A nice round 6.0 from the new modular cylinder set would have been nice. What's the new Phantom going to use?? Secondly, a flagship V12 model should be comfort focused, and look utterly regal, not sportified (Mercedes gets round this by offering the Head of State S600 and S65). This might have been an option if the "Excellence" model had standard 7er suspension, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Finally, I think RWD should be standard, and xDrive optional. I know it's childish, but I think a V12 BMW should be able to do this

It's badged "AMG" and is marketed as such. It's as fully-fledged as they come.

Sure thing, but the S is not as sharply honed as per say the C63 or E63.
It`s geared toward the luxury side of the equation primarily as this is the mission of the S. If it were gear up like the C and E63 models it would be quite different. the S63 and 65 models are, imo "marketed" cars. Kind of like the Maybach package.

Those comparison pics with Alpina definitely confirm what i have said about rims - they must be 20 inch, minimum!

Alpina for me over the 760..

I find it funny BMW fans ( read klier) emphasise so much on performance in a 7er.
You know that the Panamera will smoke EVERYTHING with 4 doors..i mean SMOKE..
Especially on the track.. so that race is over. the days of the 7er being the most sporty choice of the segment has been over for damn near 10 years.

The damn thing smokes E63s and M5s.. and its whole class above..
It will be a sad day for some when they release a Pajun..

The Alpina B7 not only looks significantly better outside with a much more appealing and sportier front bumper, and better interior at least in the pictures above, it actually appears to be the car the real M badge BMW should be. Its lighter and equally powerful with 4.4 V8 to the M 6.6 V12, and that is the proof that the Audi S8 Plus is also a viable option here with 4.0 V8.

BMW M760 front bumper looks awful compared to the B7's and ruining the whole front end of otherwise an attractive car IMO.

Didn´t cars like the F10 M5, M6 GC or even E63 beat the Panny on several tests?

A 3 Series with a 3 litre displacement is called a 340i, a 3 Series with a 2 litre displacement is called a 330i... Even a 5 Series with 3 litre diesel is called an M550d! I think they name M770i would suit this vehicle better...sounds a lot more aggressive!

Panamera's only problem competing in the luxury saloon segment is that it's a little - shall we say - cosy inside. It's not the most spacious thing around.
Beyond that it's the best handling biggish luxury car around - it's actually on another level. New one's going to be even better.

@rurella since you are a Porsche owner, has you driven any other top sporty sedan to compare them with your Panny? As far as I know, you are the only one here that owns a Panny, so it would be cool to read how cars like the RS7, M6 GC, M5, E63... Compare to your daily drive.

Do people really consider the Panamera as a rival to the 7 Series, A8, and the S-Class? I assume buyers of the large high-performance barges need the space the Panamera doesn't provide. I would say the M6 Gran Coupe, S-Class-Coupe and Aston Martin Rapide to be rivals to the Panamera.

people cross shop all over the place
the panamera is competition to many cars.

That is true. People do cross shop all over the place. But that doesn't mean everything should be considered a rival for everything. I just wouldn't put the Panamera in with the big saloons. More than grand coupes. But then we could argue this all day.
