5 Series BMW 5er GT - Wimmer Pics (spotted in Munich)

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.
Probably, this could be really sth special. Just checked the exhaust systems - it's the 535i version or maybe a TriTurbo diesel prototyp…that would be stunning!! Did your here anything of the engine?!

SO your name and email address splashed all over the photograph isn't enough?

What's your problem? :t-hands:

I'm trademarking my shots. I recently did a google search and found my pictures (even the sighting shots) in various car forums and nobody gave me credit for them. Some people even claimed they took those photographs. I'm thinking of trademarking all my shots from now on.

Sadly no. I was standing too far away and the various noises from all around deadened out whatever sound this thing made. It might be something special though.

Soon after the 7-Series was released I kept spotting all these camouflaged 7ers driving around - and these turned out to be hybrids (or V12's as some of you pointed out). :usa7uh:

Judging by the UK configurator pics it's a 535i GT. The TriTurbo version would be a range topper, so it had bigger exhaust pipes. The same goes for an hybrid version.

Had the same in mind - but it could be a xdrive version though, because of the camo on the side… :usa7uh:

Maybe, but there's only one bow for the side turn signal. Most likely that car was prepped before the official release date and they don't bother to remove all the tape. There's no need to do that before the official launch in Fall.

Erm, I don't have a problem with you protecting your photographs and I understand why you have to write your name on them. Maybe I shouldn't have said "splashed all over" then, but I was responding to you saying you put your name in the title so people know you took these photos, but there's no need for that as people can see full well who took these photos.

Anyway, this all stems from one line in one post where I said I was expecting more when I opened the thread based on what you wrote. It comes across as egotistical. You are self-promoting and self-congratulatory, when you should leave that for other people to comment on.

And that's the last you will hear from me on the subject. Possibly.

Absolutely understand christian here: Copyright on those "spyshots" are extremely important today - otherwise he would find his pics anywhere…

…well the title in the thread - it's really a matter of taste… :D

Yes, I understand the need for the copyright. The self-promotion is another matter. :D

whoa whoa whoa.

Betty,

Is Christian a little self-congratulatory? Sure, as he should be. He regularly contributes photographs to the forum and his time and effort is appreciated by everyone, well, almost everyone. I don't think you understand his sense of humor. I suggest you search through some of the old forums and take a look at all of the threads and thousands of pictures he has provided. Getting snarky and presumptuous is not the way to get people to take you seriously here.

I've been including my last name in my titles for ages and I've never looked at it as a form of self-promotion. I think I can honestly say that I have built up my reputation as someone who provides interesting and high quality photographs and my name is synonymous with that (I'd like to think...). That's the only reason I often (not always) put my name in the title. It's a way of making sure people know what to expect.

We dont initially undisguise our cars until they are ready to launch the 5er Gran Turismo launches in September @ the IAA and then arrives on the German market in November. So we are entitled to see semi disguised cars as they perform their final FEP stages in the hands of BMW employees.

Seeing a disguised prototype is somewhat exciting for the viewer, I have been in quite a few and remember people running from roadside cafes and bier haus's trying to get a photograph of a new BMW whilst it sits idling at traffic lights. No matter if you have seen the official car or not there are many people who still like to see the pictures. Or is t because it is the 5er Gran Turismo?

So snap away.

You definitely have built up a reputation as somebody who not only provides great pictures but delivers them with humor to boot, which makes your pics fun to view. I do not think that you are in any way self promoting yourself(and even if you were you deserve it due to the fabulous pics that you take).

Oh for the love of God. :eusa_doh:I have seen many of his photographs, just like you, and I too appreciate his efforts. I just don't see why that has to go hand in hand with narcissism. As I've said before, if you're going to boast about the size of your willy, you have to come up with the goods. And this time he didn't. So I criticised. Deal with it. Wimmer did.

If the next time he posts, and he says "Wimmer does it again, where's my money", and it turns out to be pictures of a completely undisguised F10 M5, I will say, "yes, well done. Your self-congratulation in this case is justified. Have a biscuit".

Honestly, it seems the only person who isn't bothered is Wimmer himself who has challenged my musings in a dignified way.

Then go away and stop posting bashings against valuable members who contribute to this forum and make it a better place.

This is a public forum. Wimmers pics were not that great on this occassion, and I voiced my opinion. Just deal with it.

Oh, and maybe don't leave the house in the future because it's a big scary world out there and not everybody is going to be nice all of the time.
