I thought it will be:6 series coupe
6 series cabrio
6 series Gran Coupe
6 series GT (?)
6 series Shooting Break (?)
vs
5 series sedan
5 series Touring
Poor 5er![]()
Its selly for 6erNo, poor 5er. I think it's silly to name everything 6er.
6 Gran Coupe will become a 8 series with coupe and cabrio variants to compete with S-class coupe and cabrio.
Nothing important in 6erI'll believe it when I see it and I haven't seen it. The 6er GC is very popular for the car it is in the price range it is in. I very much doubt that's going to change.
8er should be an additional product, next to the 6er line. A significant step over the 6er, which basically is a different looking 5er.
I agree with you. If I could prepare future lineup I would only add a 8 series and X7 line to present pipeline and that it well for me. I wanted only predict how it would like be having regard to present situation.I'll believe it when I see it and I haven't seen it. I hope they don't change the formula for the 6er. I like the fact its a coupe 5er, makes nomenclature alot easier. Maybe transition it to a more sporty model. I think it would sit well on the CLAR platform, but its using a jointly developed Toyota platform right? Maybe an additional shooting brake, but unlikely as the CLS SB has been axed.
A luxury MPV sounds stupid. Please don't BMW
I hope for an 8er based on the 7.

The 6er has not really been a 5er coupe, it has always been sitting half a class higher. It definitely isn't like the 4er which is a 3er coupe.
I wonder with the 8series, whether the 6er will be somewhat degraded into more of a 5er coupe, to compete with the E class coupe. Of course it can stay where it is and compete with cars like CLS and A7.
5er GT Mk2 is coming ... So is 6er Gran Coupe Mk2.
What's under consideration is 6er GT - a shooting brake version of 6er.
8er is completely separate story, so are the Z-series models.
This reminds me to this:

The 2er GT has set the dubious and frankly stupid precedent of the GT moniker being coupled with even number nomenclature. So why couldn't this be a logical progression?
Honestly man, I know that your command of the English language is exceptional for a non-native speaker so no excuses here from you for not reading my post thoroughly.Huh? Did the 5er GT and 3er GT not happen? If anything, 2er GT is the odd one here.
Not that it even matters, even or uneven.

I go to all the trouble to state that the 2er GT set a precedent (in simpler terms: screw what came before it). So what about the 3GT and 5GT? The fact stands.

Sorry to enter the discussion, guys, but the F46 is hardly a GT. The BMW 2er Gran Tourer is simply a bigger 2er Active Tourer (neither are mentioned as a badge on BMW models), not a true GT. As the name says, it is a tourer, which is the company's acceptance to MPVs. Nothing to do with the Gran Turismo, which is the real GT (which appears as a stand-alone rear badge on BMW cars). Up to now, the sole GT models in the lineup belong to the 3er and 5er. So, the above rumors are pretty hard to believe. Most likely, we will see a new generation 5er GT next year.
