5 Series (G30) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30 is the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series. Body styles: (G30) (sedan), (G31) (wagon), (G38) (LWB sedan). Predecessor: 5 Series (F10). Successor: 5 Series (G60). Production: 2016-2023.
Its good to see the disguise is keeping people guessing especially at the rear. Its less bulbous and constrained than before.

We are all hoping that it looks less bulbous and constrained than before.

I see better proportions in this one that the current model. And looks like a bit lower too.

I was just catching up with the G30 spy pics. I think the interior can already be guessed by the pics we have seen. I have selected the two of them that show the main lines:

First thing that I notice is the Radio/AC controls of the G11 are carried over to the 5er intact. With the F10 and F01 we had some differences, as with the E39 and E38 generations, there was a bit of plastic between the radio and the AC in the 5er, whereas with the 7er the hole central console was one single unit. I believe the central console will be shared between the G11 and the G30. The only thing that cannot be seen is the AC touch controls. Maybe BMW wants to keep them exclusive of the 7er, but I doubt it.

The main differences I have notices are on the air vents, which look less sophisticated on the 5er, with no touch controls, and the central tunnel, that loos entirely different. You can see on the second pic how the trim is limited to the passenger side, like on the F30 3er, and the whole tunnel is less massive than the G11 one.

That's was previously the case as well... The interiors were very similar

Maybe a bit too soon to say that. The differences will be minor like before and there's still plenty of camo.

Most G11 test cars didn't have that either.

it seems like they have forgot how to design NEW interiors.

What were you expecting? BMW has been evolving its interior design for 20 years now. So does MB. The only one that is more ground breaking with its interior design is Audi.

actually MB is quite different, there is a clear difference of each new generation, you can easily notice this, but BMW not so much.

Well it's true that the latest gen of MB interior are pretty much unlike any other brand, nor like previous MB offerings. BMW interiors for the most part are more conservative, or at least more like previous offerings (except the Bangle generation clearly).

Back to basics. One design fits all.

Actually no. Because as anyone can clearly see its a 3er Active Hybrid with the face of the 7er and the intakes of a 4er Coupe.
Its not a render its the product of somebody who just could not be bothered.

So the 5er will be impossible to confuse with the 7er?
