5 Series (G30/G31/G38) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
It will drive like a beauty though..
Well what doesent these days? they lost the mark on the last 5er it was not as sporty as previous and not as comfy as the competition.. i hope they go back to their roots with this, and atleast make it a true BMW in driving pleasure.. time will tell.

Well hell i knew my opinion won't matter here, i still have one though.

I just don't see how you guys find this car so great.

I have yet to say what I think about this car. But if you do mind your opinion is being taken seriously here I would simply avoid being so predictable. I say this in good terms. I mean no harm. But I tend to find it boring when someone only loves/hates all the products of a brand.

Having said this, I think BMW has put very little imagination on this design. The rear and the front end could even pass for and extensive FL like the one done to the E65 back in the day. Even with this, the F10 base was so good, and the changes are so greatly done, that the outcome is fantastic. That 3/4 shot of the rear has a certain CS vibe that I find so sexy.

The competition has not been too imaginative either, so this allows the G30 to still be the reference in terms of design IMO. At least until I see the next A6.

so i should make up a false opinion just to avoid being predictable?

I guess you don't pay attention, there are Plenty BMWs i like and ive said it over and over again, for eg the 6er GC, but i guess its always the negative that gets highlighted.

Its not my fault that BMW has been amazingly boring for a decade now, its just evolution no revolution.

But lets drop this, im not here to ruin this thread, its about the new 5er and i just stated what i think so far.

Here we are. :)
It looks real to me.

5er has some superior attributes in this class that make it stand out. For me, best seats in class hands down, good handling, best engines by far - there is a lot that separates this car from the others. I love integral active steering as well, one of the few who do.

Going on recent re-designs of the A4, Q7, Q5 and A5, Audi are going to make the next A6 much less desirable than the current one, the E has got progressively worse looking since it's melted away from the more defined lines of the pre-face lift W212, and the G30 doesn't seem to be any more exciting or interesting than the the F10 which it replaces, which to me was already a bit too "beige"...

For me ... I don't think this segment is going to have any particularly desirable day to day cars for a while. As with the G11/12, the best looking model is likely to be the one by Buchloe.

Still withholding final judgement on the G30 until proper pics... but I stand by what I said previously...

If I think back to 5er's of old, and what I thought about their styling, I think of words like Smart, Sharp, Athletic, Muscular, Handsome, I'm really struggling to find a nice word to use to describe the G30. It really doesn't strike me as anything special at all

What's with the fat steering wheel. Looks like a step backwards, as do the wheels.

Interior generally quote disappointing too. Definitely evolutionary.

Sophisto Grey the only grey? Where have Mineral Grey and Space Grey gone?

Bluestone looks good and overall the car looks appealing. Shall reserve judgement until the reveal as always.

As I (and others) mentioned before, renders did not get some crucial details right. For me, the most relevant ones are: rear bumper and the one of the character lines that meets the doubled Hofmeister kink. Very cool features. What I still don't like are those huge taillights.
On the inside, I find the effect of the all-black screen (without any bling-bling) quite surprising. Looks rather techy and not as cheap as in the 3er, for instance.

What is great is the great performance by the M division. Their latest designs for the M-Sport packages make the cars stand out in a really nice way.

Like with the G11, the G30 just feels as stylish as it gets with it.

I love it more and more inside out only from these low quality pics, so i can imagine what'll happen in 2 days... Sooo looking forward to it. As far as i can see, they didn't f up anything on this car and i hope to be 100% sure once the official pictures are released. (y)(y)

I have read at an other BMW site that the interior will get more metal in combination with the luxury line. I don't know if it will be the same extent like at the 7-series.
