3 Series (F30) BMW 3-Series (F30) First Drives/Tests Thread

The BMW F30 is the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: F30 (sedan), F31 (wagon/,touring), F34 (fastback/gran turismo), and F35 (long-wheelbase). For this generation, coupé/convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series. Predecessor: BMW E90. Successors: G20 3 Series, and G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: 2011–2018.
Where do you think funding for the NHS comes from? Taxes, which 99.9% of people pay.

Healthcare is free AT THE POINT OF CONSUMPTION, but it's certainly not "free". Therefore the UK is no different to the United States, the only difference being when it is paid for.

Of course you are right though I think proportionally we might still be paying less than the typical US citizen for their healthcare. Our advantage is that you don't pay more depending on the seriousness of your condition nor will you need medical insurance or be turned down due to an illness.

It mightn't be perfect but it's still better than most systems out there.

Conclusion:

Such a Thing as Too Perfect?
So, the new 3 does everything better than its predecessor. It’s faster and lighter while being more efficient. It allows going around corners at silly speeds without biting you back if you overestimate your own abilities. And it does all that while offering a ride and comfort level never before offered in a 3 series.

In other words, it’s perfectly polished – and that might be its only downside. I’ve mocked the current Z4 at the beginning, and this model is definitely not guilty of perfection. It has its pros and cons and is not that polished. But that somehow makes it more personable. So perhaps the only thing is that the new 3 series comes across as just a tad too polished.

Hopefully that makes some sense to most of you. If I were to offer up a “cure” for the F30's over polished character: just leave out the adaptive suspension. That would make for a less polished ride and thus for a less perfect car – which ironically makes it more perfect to me. In a sense, sometimes the imperfect makes perfect (at least for me when it comes to automobiles). A car that's just a little rough around the edges sometimes has just a bit more character and personality.

Car guide: 4.5 stars out of 5

You could drive the 328i tomorrow, having never set a foot on a BMW pedal and you would feel instantly at home. Everything is weighted and positioned just as it should be.

You could, like me, have driven every minor variant of every 3 Series of the past two generations and more besides, and feel immediately that the new 328i advances the game. It fits either of you like a chamois glove.

This is the genius of the 3 Series. It flatters the absolute beginner and enables the enthusiast. Throttle, brakes, steering - all are just ... well, just so. We loved the old sixes, we love manuals but we wouldn't swap this drivetrain. Capably amiable in milder modes, a weapon when the wick is lit, it comes close to being all things to all people.

Whoa, the C looks so much better in this photo. The F30's front looks extremely over-designed next to it.

Here we go again K-A. I strongly disagree. 3er looks more aggressive and in your face while C looks like a square. C-class front was destroyed after the facelift.

I know that lots of you guys get offended when someone doesn't praise the 3, but to each their own. Consider it a compliment to the 3 that I was actually surprised to have that perception when seeing them together. In-your-face/aggressive doesn't mean a front end looks better always, actually what I like is the C's simple-effectiveness next to the 3's more strenuous look.

Offended? please K-A, thats not what it is about. People can say whatever they want, I just simply dont agree with you. The thing is, 3er has better front than C-class.

BTW I love this pic:

Maybe this angle makes the car too conservative.

Absolutely love that interior, it is BMW's freshest looking interior. Really airy and expressive.
