I want to like this car, but I feel it looks more like a conventional saloon than a sedoup and doesn't deserve the GC badge. I think its more of a rival for an A-class saloon and A3 saloon than a CLA.

I think that is exactly the idea and it is premeditated, covering the two segments at once, cannot be denied that it is a GC although subtle and it is also a sedan, it can compete with everyone - A3, A sedan, CLA, even "steal" sales to the Jetta and others, also having the 2GC in this way there would be no need to replace the 1 series sedan with the huge savings in development that it means, more in these times

The rear looks fat and wide, but I'd say it kind of works. My problem is with the front end. I can't say it's ugly, but it's not beautiful either. It's just wrong. It doesn't look as mature as the previous 1er or as classy as a CLA. It's bold in a bad way.

It's a shame that it's easier for my to make peace with electric cars than BMW's most recent designs.

Sure you have the 3er/5er GT, 2er AC, etc, but those are weird cars to begin with. But this here is supposed to be a BMW sedan. Jesus YUCK.
