In case you’ve missed all the fashion news lately, we’re here to remind you that Bentley has recently embraced their female side partnering up with fashion designer Frida Weyer to create a limited-edition handbag collection. Before even talking about luxury auto makers and handcrafted exclusive bags, we’d like to warn you about the advertorial for the new line, which features a runway show that was part of Berlin Fashion Week.

OK, there is no more surprise in finding all these luxury automakers embracing all sorts of fashion ventures just for the sake of basically being present on any market. From baby karts to kid cars, from chess tables to sunglasses and what not, more and more exclusive car builders opt for this type of marketing. And Bentley is one of the first to rock this way.

Now, their newest product is a limited-edition handbag they have created along with German designer Frida Weyer. Created from a timeless combination of fine materials and meticulous craftsmanship, each bag bears a single unique identifying number. Ladies can chose from two models that both come in five distinctive color ways.

Two models

The Barnato in Imperial Blue & Linen is crafted from calfskin and finished with a quilted interior. It bears the name of Diana Barnato, the daughter of former Bentley chairman Woolf Barnato. An experienced aviator and the first British woman to break the sound barrier, Bentley claims her achievements are reflected in the bag’s combination of ambitious design and practicality.

The second model, called the Continental in Special Ivory, is obviously inspired by the model car itself. Ever since the first Bentley Continental roared into life in 1952, the Continental name has stood for the very best in design, craftsmanship and performance. According to its maker, this celebrated design DNA is reflected in every detail of the bag, from the flawless leather exterior to the refined interior detailing.

Unfortunately there is no price tag offered so far, so you’ll just have to check out the video below.

No handbag but another nice gadget:

Bentley and Vertu join forces for $17,100 smartphone

Runs on Android 4.4 KitKat

Following an announcement made earlier this year, Bentley and Vertu have unveiled an Android-running luxury smartphone.

The "Vertu for Bentley" smartphone features a quilted calf leather finish combined Bentley's shade of Newmarket Tan and diamond pattern stitching. It benefits from a titanium construction and comes with tactile diamond knurling detailing on the side rails while at the back there's an engine-turned pattern which opens to show the engraved signature of the person in charge of building the phone.

Unlike most of Vertu's phones, this one isn't outdated at all as it is running Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.3 Ghz. It has 64GB of internal memory and is equipped with a 1080p 4.7-inch touchscreen display benefiting from sapphire crystal coating.

At the back it uses a 13 MP camera with twin focus and dual LED flash while at the front it packs a 2.1 MP camera. It comes with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2,275 mAh which should provide enough juice for up to 15 hours and 30 minutes of talk time or 380 hours in standby.

Already available at select Vertu boutiques, the smartphone will be built in a limited series of 2,000 units, with pricing set at a steep $17,100 (€12,500 / £10,700).

Full specifications can be found in the attached press release.

What a load of crap, honestly I couldn't see many women opting for a Bentley handbag over the existing premium brands. My handbag toting wife (the owner of a fine collection) said no way.

I've never understood the allure of Vertu mobiles, why throw down the kind of cash Vertu wants for a phone which will be out of date within 6 months, I'd much rather spend the same on a nice watch which will last decades and a much better and significantly cheaper Android or IOS mobile.

It's like a tog bag for any old brand. When I bought my F10 I got a dodgy BMW branded bag, like a show off label for the masses. Hideous.
