I love both, though I am fearful that some cars will not age nearly as well as the ir predecessors(E60 & E63/64). W/ facelifts and new model intro's the designs will only get better I feel.
I agree

E63/64 are my current favorite BMWs. The 7er follows.
The 6ers are Jaw dropping gorgeous to look at on the roads, when/if you get to spot one. They have amazing presence. Other cars hover too much around you when driving one of these babies.

Like the E24 before, the E63/64 represent a tour de force from BMW, are exotics and keep their value well. As the E24, I think the E63/64 will age well. They are (like all Bangle designs) ahead of their time.... something the press/media rarely gets. They are responsible for all the bashing, and now, a few years later, they start to 'get it' and start to interpret Mr. Bangle designs as they should've years ago.

Bangle of course. Anyway that improve the sales for BMW deserve some credit.

I really like what Bangle has done for BMW.

BTW this looks absolutely fantastic!!!

Pre-Bangle. Style, grace and purity instead of gimmicks and general design mishmash. There isn't a single car among the new ones that I find attractive. The latest ones like the E90 are more toned down, but far from the gracefulness that used to be the cornerstone of BMW design.

LOL -well I appreciate what you are saying - perhaps some of the styling is a little flashy - and yes, even gimmicky, but I think it is very right for the time.

Just look at how those wonderful folds and shapes of the Z4's "flame surfacing" plays with light - is that not pure art?

Ah, Frank Gehry's architecture. In a way, he and Bangle are very similar men - both extraordinary designers, for sure, but not without each of their fair share of controversy.

Interestingly, there was an article about Frank Gehry in BMW Magazine about a year or two back.

I never noticed how those lines played with the light. Good observation Robert!

Well Roberto, I guess the main question here is "What is art?". Upon the opening of a new museum of modern art, a controversial Finnish wrestler/actor/singer/Member of Parliament rather vulgarly commented "If I were to take a dump in a pot and stick some sort of propeller in it and take it there under the name of some lesbian feminist artist, all the art critics would be falling head over heels in love with it." Now I don't share his views on that or really anything else for that matter and I'm actually quite happy the museum is there even if it's not really my cup of tea, but the point remains that what some people might consider beautiful and artistic will not necessarily appeal to others. Not everyone will 'get it', so to speak, and some will simply find it unappealing.

I can see the connection between Gehry's architecture and Bangle's design, and to be frank I don't find either very appealing. The difference there is that the buildings are one-offs while the cars are mass-produced (which of course, begs the question if anything that is mass-produced can be called art). I see those cars every single day. Of course they are not the only cars I find unappealing, but most of the rest are boring or bland rather than intentionally challenging. I can appreciate the fact that many people seem to like them, but that doesn't change the fact that I still cringe every time I see the headlights of a 5er, the chrome strip above the grille of a 3er or the Bangle butt of either a 7er or a 6er (which, thankfully, is very a rare occasion here).

I didn't vote because i like both of them, but i have to say that old interiors are very superior to the new ones in style and quality, also i think that with the last two classic generations we reached a certain perfection in automobile design, i am a big fan of E65 but i prefer the enternal classic beauty of e38 and e32. These two cars with some other bimmers resume for me what a bimmer should be: Simple, elegant and powerful.

I like both, but some of the bangle bimmers, like the Z4 M coupe and the M5,
well I could say they're the most beautifull bimmers ever. then I calm down a little and say there were beautifull bimmers before, like the 327 coupe, the 328 Mille Miglia, the 507 hardtop, 2002 Turbo, the 3.0 CSL and so on.

All brilliant...apart from that dress. :t-rot:

I voted for Bangle. I think the fact that the Bangle's designs have influenced the designs of other cars and that profits and sales are at records highs prove that his designs have been accepted. GM and Ford keep putting out the same bland and boring cars and they are struggling. You have to change and give people something new to keep them interested.

Hey Bmwrules, congratulations on your new 330i that I see you have added to your signature! That was quick, I am glad it turned out that well for you. And I also agree with you about having to give people something new to keep them interested.

No-Bangle without giving it a seconds concideration.

The 7er and the Z4 makes me puke everytime I see them.

I really am a big fan of the E46 and E39. The best looking Beemers ever!

i voted for Bangle. IMO, BMW improved very much from when he was hired. Still beautiful models are made, and sales are huge. I do like many of the past bimmers, but that doesn't mean i can't like the new ones. Even though the E39 is my fav bimmer, i have to say that the new 3er and 7er are winning my heart. So again, GO CHRIS, GO!

I think this could have been put in a better way ..... You should have explained that you mean last generation's overall image proceeding in the same touch , how can I explain it ? some one help . :t-hands:

last generation BMW's or new Bimmers (designed by Bangle). I think I made that pretty clear. I dont understand what the confusion is.... I even made it simple for simpletons by putting up pictures showing cars designed by bangle (the new generation) and showing the equivalent of that car above it (Pre-Bangle)
