Vs Autobild: RS6 Avant vs M5 T vs E63 Wagon

Vehicle comparisons, matchups, debates, performance battles, and head-to-head discussions.
I can't believe that a test like this does not stirr more discussion. Maybe the segment is becomming a bit "yesterday"?

Oh boy that beemer is soooo ugly!!

And the RS6 Avant is just the most beautiful wagon ever was!!!

Love it!!

M5 is obviously doing a great job, but still, when it come to HP wagons, there can be only one for me and that's that TT V10 mofo, aka RS6. :usa7uh:

A-to-the-freaking-men! :)

So you rather go with more power than Freude am Fahren??? And more power means little for Audi, because the car is just as fast as the old, old, OLD M5 :)

Dude, we're talking about wagons, not sedans...;) These are not type of cars which i'd drive like their sedan versions...;) This is something different... I'd never take RS6 over (FL) M5 E60, but wagons are different story...

And yeah, Audi looks better here...:D

Please advise me if this time achieved by the M5 is representative of what the M5 Touring is capable in other acceleration tests?

I do know that the RS6 Avant does these times regularly do I don't know if this is true for the M5 Touring.

I think they are in line with what has been seen before, not at all out of bounds as the 4.1 sec 0-100 time achieved with the E60 M5. It is quite rare with touring tests. Considering that the sedan scores between 13.5 and 14.0 in 0-200 it think it is fair to say that the 14.0 for the touring is fast but ok.

I understand that in this case the cars were tested neck to neck? That would mean that manu variables such as weather and surface were eliminated. Good thing.

Something is strange here.In earlier tests i saw in Autobild, RS6 Avant was about 0.5(s) faster than M5 Touring but recently i have seen M5 clocks faster 0-200km/h times than 580hp RS6.What is the point here?:eusa_thin
The same story is true about M5 saloon vs RS6 saloon

There is no denying the results, after all they were conducted at the same time which eliminates other variables, but what I do think we have here is an exceedingly fast M5 Touring compared to other examples tested else where. This is great for those that favour the M brand but I don't necessarily believe it's a true representative of these two cars. In fact I would go further and say that I can't recall a test where even the M5 saloon has beaten an RS6 Avant apart from this one here.

But one thing that no one could possibly disagree with is that next M5 will comfortaby be quicker than the RS6 and possibly the new E-class AMG with it's new 5.5TT.

We shall see. By the time the new M5 hits the streets, the RS6 will be history and a new one 4 (or so) years away.

The point is: different conditions. That's all. This M5-testcar was a very well fitted one, that's why it's faster to 200 kph than the RS6 (which was fast as hell, too. Two years ago they reached 14,1 s with a different testcar, now it's 14,2 s. Nice. :D)

No track driving included in this test? Slalom? Cornering g force? :t-hands:

These (super-)wagons are probably more common sight on the autobahns than on the track but I still find track/slalom times more interesting than the numbing 0-100 times...

Btw., the final result is:
1st: E63 AMG T
2nd: RS6 Avant
3rd: M5 Touring

This result was to be expected given the E class is the newest design and offers the best compromise between luxury and sportiness, but it also highlight that the E60 M5 though great as a driver's car fails miserably at anything else.

I can only assume that when the Merc receives the new 5.5tt it will be an unbeatable force in this sector.

^ Yes, because the E61 M5 is the last ever M5 :t-crazy2:
When Merc comes with the 5.5 turbo BMW already has a new 4.4 turbo.

Did you understand what I meant be this?

I meant that it's a great driver's car but it don't do luxury nor comfort that well at all, the SMG gearbox is too unrefine, it's suspension even on the softest setting was too firm, it's engine was too vocal. Basically it's too much of a one trick pony compared to the others and will obviously finish last in such a comparison.
