The Aurus Komendant looks RR ish but not a bad looking vehicle inside and out, but not exciting. It's a massive car as well, 5.38m long.
From AMuS:
AURUS KOMENDANT
This is Putin's luxury SUV
The Russian luxury brand Aurus also brings a luxury SUV after the sedan Senat, the convertible derived from it and the Van Arsenal. The Komendant has now been revealed after a year-long attempt.
Aurus continues to expand its model portfolio as announced. The manufacturer of the new Russian state sedan has now finalized and presented the luxury SUV Komendant.
V8 hybrid with 600 hp and all-wheel drive
Visually, the Comendant follows the lines given by the Senate and Arsenal, with the Comendant set somewhere in between in terms of proportions. The model features a massive chrome grille that reaches far down and reminds a little of Rolls-Royce models. It is flanked by narrow LED headlights. The elongated and strongly contoured bonnet directs the view to the recessed passenger compartment. A total length of 5.38 meters, a width of 2.04 meters and a height of 1.82 meters ensure the impressive appearance. The wheelbase of 3,100 millimetres ensures plenty of space in the interior.
The Komendant is designed as a classic SUV with plenty of ground clearance (depending on the chassis setting of the adaptive air suspension up to 260 millimeters), large overhangs and angular design. At the rear, the headlight design is repeated with a C-shaped light signature. Otherwise, the rear with the square exhaust tailpipes is classically restrained. In the strongly flared wheel arches are 20-inch light alloy wheels. Under the SUV sheet metal, the Aurus Komendant relies on the same platform as its sister models. Under the long hood, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 600 hp and 880 Nm of torque in combination with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive provides propulsion. An additional 62 hp electric motor in the transmission makes the V8 a hybrid. The 16 Ah battery sits under the rear of the vehicle.
The hybrid drive is intended to push the Komendant, which weighs 3,235 kilograms, from zero to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds; the maximum speed is given as 220 km/h. This makes the permissible payload all the more modest. Here, only 260 kilograms for the four-seater are mentioned in the technical data.
The Russians proceed analogously in the interior. So the Aurus Komendant takes over the cockpit of the sedan. This means that the SUV has an extremely wide display that combines various displays under one window. The central control unit sits on the centre console as a rotary pushbutton. A third row of seats is omitted. After all, the Komendant is not a family transporter. For this purpose, the two luxury seats in the rear are equipped with large displays mounted on the front seats. A separate air conditioning system regulates the temperature balance in the rear. Of course, the rear seats – as well as the front seats – are completely electrically adjustable. The Komendant interior is lined with a lot of leather and applications made of local woods.
The name Komendant derived from a Kremlin tower.
The luxury SUV can be ordered now. Aurus assumes that when the Komendant enters civilian trade from the beginning of 2023, it will probably become the most popular Aurus model. The price will not change this, which speaks for a healthy self-confidence with at least – according to the current ruble exchange rate – the equivalent of around 594,000 euros. By the way: Like the Limousine Senat (including
convertible) and the Van
Arsenal, the Komendant is also named after a Kremelturm.
