Audi’s future lineup revealed

Re: Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

I feel ya. The gap between the TT and R8 is too small to fill with a car. Especially when there's the A5 as well.

yeah and when theres a A5 cab, A4 cab and the A3 cab:confused:

Re: Updated Audi schedule

Made a mistake, thanks for pointing it out, the weight difference is still 65kg tough.

997 Carrera Manual: 1,470 kg(EU)
997 Carrera 4 Manual: 1,525 kg(EU)

That's a 55kg difference. I would say that the increase in weight from RWD to AWD (55kg in this case) is less than the average increase in weight from FWD to AWD (around 100kg for Audi A6's). I would say that Audi Quattros (Torsen versions) start with around 55kg weight penalty over the equivalent RWD BMWs so to see the Audi A6 coming out 100kg lighter than the BMW 5er would require around 150kg weight saving on the rest of the car. I will believe that when I see it, that will take a lot of aluminium!

New wish list for christmas a few years ahead.
Seriously I would only buy the A5 CAB (it will be the best looking CAB)
& the new A8 (Top of the line flagship) must be just mindblowing!

What interest me is the 3.0TFSI 245kw/333ps. It's funny that Audi will offer an engine with two different forced inductions. I suspect the supercharged one is designed to replace the 3.2 FSI Quattro.

What gives you the impression that there will be two different forms of forced induction on one V6 Luw? For now it looks like it's only supercharging...

Audi considering new supercar and compact SUV for U.S. market

Audi’s sales performance in the U.S. still pales in comparison to its main rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz but the carmaker is determined to build its presence in the world’s biggest market with the launch of new and exciting models. Audi’s U.S. boss has now confirmed that two new vehicles, a compact soft-roader and a new supercar, are both being considered as potential additions to the carmaker’s U.S. lineup.

Johan de Nysschen, executive vice president of Audi of America, told AutoWeek that the compact SUV would be a “lifestyle” product, similar to Toyota’s RAV4. The new vehicle would be positioned below the recently revealed Q5, which is set to go on sale early next year.
Audi is working on a new Q3 but because of deal with Nissan where the “Q” badge can only be used on the Q5 and Q7 the new compact SUV would likely get a new name in the U.S.
De Nysschen wasn’t willing to reveal details about the new supercar but a Spider convertible version of R8 is due as well as a high-performance V10 model and both of these are likely to be earmarked for the U.S.

What a piece of shit to downgrade their engine line up. S5 with that engine? puaj. And what about the new RS5? the same engine as the actual S5 but overpowered?. It doesn´t make sense to me.

BMW is now the green mark for excelence and they don´t downgrade their engines as Audi is planning.

It's because of BMW they are downgrading the S5 engine. The 335i models are selling like butter and Audi want to bring down the S4 and S5 to the same price level to have a bite of the cake. This is important especially in the US where the C63 cost less than 5k more than the S5. So audi is basically repositioning their S models.

So they can upgrade their current 3.2 FSI making it a 3.2 TFSI, with twin turbo and all you want. But what they can´t do is downgrade a big engine such as S5 one to compete with the 335i.

Better will be forget about the actual 3.2 FSI engine and introduce the all new 3.0 TFSI, but not to downgrade the S5, i think is not good for Audi image.

For the time beeing all we have is speculation and several contradicting sometimes information.

Let's wait and see what happens first.

I seriously doubt that the S5 will be downgraded in terms of engine power.

Next Audi RS4 to use supercharged V6; A3 lineup set to expand

Audi has already revealed that its next S4 sedan will be powered by a supercharged 3.0L V6, but a new report finds the S4 will not be the only A4-variant to use the blown engine. Sources inside Audi have revealed that the M3-rivaling RS4 will also use the supercharged mill.

The engineering mole failed to reveal the RS4’s horsepower rating, but did confirm with Car Magazine that the powerplant will essentially be the same engine used in the S4. Audi has yet to announce output figures for the S4, but it is widely believed that it will hit the market with at least 330 horsepower. Therefore, look for the RS4 to be pushing about 400-420 horsepower, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see a final figure closer to 450.

Although the RS4’s main competitors now use V8s, the insider isn’t worried about market acceptance. After all, the original RS4 used a forced induction V6 and the most resent RS4 actually sparked the jump to V8s. “They [BMW, Mercedes, Lexus] have followed, but now we will go back,” the source told Car.

The supercharged V6 should offer V8 levels of torque but return much better fuel economy.
The next RS4 is also slated to get Audi’s dual-clutch seven-speed S-tronic gearbox.

Despite the S4’s and RS4’s jump to supercharged V6s, don’t look for the S5 to make similar changes. According to Audi sources, the V8 actually better suits the car’s luxury image. In that same vein, the S5 will continue to be offered with a standard slush box rather than the sportier S-tronic unit.
Finally, Car’s report speculates that Audi’s A3 line is set to expand, with the inclusion of a Q3 which will be based on the Cross Coupe Quattro concept.

I fear that the M3 one day might get Turbo someday as well. I cant see a M3 only reeving to 7000 rpm :(

Considering recent developments, it's quite possible the next gen M3 will, along with future AMG models ...

With all this talk of M and even Ferrari resorting to aspirated engines, I feel we might be fast approaching the end of a golden age for high revving NA engines. Very tempting to go and lap one up while they last.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
