Audi’s future lineup revealed

Re: Updated Audi schedule

Great news. An all new A8 for April of 2009, making it a 2010 model here in the U.S? That means for 2010 the S will be facelifted and the 7 and A8 will be all new. Going to be a dogfight.

EnI, I think they mean that the next A6 will be that much lighter than competitive cars right now because they have no idea what the next 5-Series will weigh.

April 2010 is when customers are holding the keys in their hands, which means that it should be presented 1-3 months prior to that. Throw in the Panamera, Arnage and Friska karma*Yeah right* and you've got yourself a good year. :)

Re: Updated Audi schedule

BMW M5 (limo) = 507 HP / 1855 kg -> 3,65 kg / 1 HP
Audi S6 (limo) = 435 HP / 1910 kg -> 4,39 kg / 1 HP

BMW M5 (touring) = 507 HP / 1955 kg -> 3,85 kg / 1 HP
Audi S6 (avant) = 435 HP / 1970 kg -> 4,52 kg / 1 HP
Audi RS6 (avant) = 580 HP / 2025 kg -> 3,49 kg / 1 HP

Here are the weights of the current models. Take into the consideration that RS6 (and S6) are quattro powered which adds sth. to the final weight.

Re: Updated Audi schedule

Except those BMW weights are with the 68kg driver and 7kg luggage and 90% fuel and Audi weights are with out.

Re: Updated Audi schedule

A6 3.2 FSI FWD - Unloaded curb weight 1540 kg (3395 lbs)

A6 3.2 FSI Quattro - Unloaded curb weight 1680 kg (3703 lbs)

;)

:t-cheers:

Damn, 140kg. Here is the comparison for 3er:

Unladen weight EU1,610
Unladen weight EU, xDrive1,720
(this again is with Driver and luggage and 90% fuel).

110Kg for Xdrive, not as bad but still a lot.

Re: Updated Audi schedule

It's not always the same, for example, An A6 2.4 Avant (FWD) weighs 1535kg and the same car with Quattro weighs 1640kg...

In any case, it's always more than 100 kilos...:eusa_doh:

100kg lighter than E60 which already has an all alu chassis, alu suspension + all alu front part of body frame!!!???

I do not believe that story. It's more possible new Audi will be 100kg lighter than current A6.

Except this is spin - comparing DIN to EU weight figures (75kg of difference).

Anyway ... what's the point comparing new Audi A6 with E60 & W211 - since both W212 & F10 will be out before new A6. ;)

I guess I made a little misjudgment:eusa_doh::D. Here are the figures for Porsche 911:

997 C4: 1,495(EU) kg

997 C4S: 1,550(EU) kg

Difference 55kg

You never know what they have planned, but again this is all boasting so it really doesn't mean a thing until the car turns up in the showroom proving such a claim.

Then again that comparo of different weight methods could be it too.

It's interesting, how come only 55 kilos?:eusa_thin

Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

Audi announced the A4 Cabrio's production is coming to an end just last month, so the A5 convertible will be the maker's entry-level drop-top in North America. The model is scheduled for a premiere at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January of 2009. This is confirmed by a photo and reports of Audi's model rollout schedule for the next five years that was printed in enthusiast publication, and has since been published on the web. Among the model releases is an A5 convertible and nary a mention of the seventh generation A4 drop-top.

The A5 convertible — which will go head-to-head with the BMW 328i convertible – should begin production in late 2008 in time for an early 2009 launch. Following the launch of the A5, Audi will begin producing the S5 convertible to compete with BMW's 330i convertible. However, unlike the BMW hardtop convertibles, the Audis will do with a more conventional soft top to keep costs and weight down.

Power for the A5 cabrio is expected to be sourced from a 3.2L FSI V6 — with Europe getting two optional diesel powerplants — while the S5 will get a V8 with around 350 horsepower.

We summarized the schedule for you, noting the model introduction or update, its launch date and where it will be produced, which came courtesy of enthusiast mag Quattro Quarterly.

Re: Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

Wont the R4 be a toned down R8?? with softer curves, power and not as aggressive looking, so if this is..isn't it just a TT???:confused: It's going to be another pointless cars Audi make, which everyones loves:D

Re: Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

Re: Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

I have some questions about that one too but my guess is that it will be like a premium TT with a midengine configuration and slightly more sophisticated technology.

I don't think it will be put into production, I think someone made it up when the A5 was being produced to get people thinking. I can't see the point in the R4:confused:

Re: Audi production schedule leaked 2008-2012

I feel ya. The gap between the TT and R8 is too small to fill with a car. Especially when there's the A5 as well.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
