Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume admitted that the brand's line-up is “lagging the competition”. He added that its “massive potential” has not been fulfilled in recent years, and that “we also faced severe software problems that delayed the launch plan of exciting electric products”.

Audi has turned dull and the quality of their interiors have dropped too e.g Q2 and A1.

If I want a premium car that’s not a BMW or Mercedes, I would buy a KIA, Polestar or Volvo.

I hope this change in leadership finally acknowledges the need to offer tunning packages for kids to upgrade their RS3s to over 1,000 PS.

In what world is Kia a premium car?
In none, (yet) but I think the observation goes more in this direction...

"And the controls all have that frictionless panache of brands in the BMW and Porsche realm. Such things show you how relentless is Kia's march to greatness."

Audi considers third-party EV platform amid SSP delays
Sources say Audi board will meet this week to discuss potential suppliers, including several Chinese firms

The move comes after delays to the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) being developed by Audi's parent company, the Volkswagen Group.
Audi has been banking on Project Trinity for a range of new electric vehicle models.

The Volkswagen Group's existing Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB) and Premium Platform Electric (PPE) structures have been deemed unsuitable for these models, a high-ranking Audi official told Autocar.

I can only hope that will be for the Chinese market only. What models are they trying to roll out that the MEBevo/PPE that's not even out yet wouldn't be suitable for, yet an outsourced platform would?

It is now not expected to underpin new Audi models until 2029 at the earliest - some three years after the SSP's planned debut in a production car.

What a laughable disaster. Embarrassing.

Ahhh so even the bosses of audi acknowledge the brand is stagnant. But klier who doesnt even buy audi products thinks he knows better.

Audi rs3 is the same size and weight of b5 audi rs4. Only 30hp difference. Real progress remember.

And who else remembers, that 25 years ago, audi was seen as barely above Opel. Adults from those times didnt see audi as an equivelant to bmw or mercedes.

I was a young boy, my father had a audi 80, (he really wanted a mercedes) and I used to ask people like my grandad, and family friends, why they have bmw or mercedes and why not audi, and its because it was seen as a inferior brand.

It is my generation, that helped push the audi brand, we loved the urquattro even though we werent alive during those days, the b5 s4, the rs2, the audi s2.

My generation said those are cool cars, and so within over time, audi gained popularity with my generation, those who are now late 20’s early 30’s and perhaps even guys in their early 40’s, and then audi now its mainstream and seen as a alternative to bmw or mercedes has turned its back on those people who promoted the brand.

No more sports cars, no exciting products, no innovation, just SUV SUV SUV.

Wheres the TT replacement? Wheres the modern URQuattro? Wheres the r8?

Oldschool audi a8 was cool. New one? No.

Rs6 and rs4, was niche, now mercedes and bmw offer the same products but better.

There is no longer a reason to buy a audi over a BMW or Mercedes unless you are a boring man. A librarian, a man with no fire, no passion. Its the new volvo, volvo and Polestar are more exciting, more fresh, audi is now stale. There isnt a single model in the audi brand that excites me, and i was a hardcore audi fan from 5 years old until dieselgate.

Audi as a brand is dead to me now, i will buy BMW’s and Mercedes instead. And like I said before, im not the only one, I run the ttrs and rs3 owners group and alot of the old hardcore VAG fans and owners have all moved to different brands. Audi doesnt cater to the enthusiast anymore

Audi which I adore is today a beautiful brand of "old" cars? I wouldn't know what to call them, the R8 goes on and on forever, but it's a bit old now, there are several A4, A6, E-trones, etc., rolling mules, but as Alfa Romeo and Volvo have shown, it's sometimes impossible to get up after a nap so long.

I would say the four doors coupe E-tron is the only Audi that can be called totally current and desirable in the same sentence.

In Europe they still like it that way, luckily because otherwise where would the brand be?

Best selling brand out of the big three in Europe, which is where you are from.

Did you get fired from VAG or something?

And toyota camry was the best selling car in america for many many years.

Mundane mass production cars have always been big sellers. A safe bet. But safe is boring ;)

Premium german chinese car.

Audi just gets better and better.

And they have just turned their back on sportscar racing too, for f1, which ex ferrari boss binotto after touring their facilities is rumoured to have called a clown operation.

Audi f1 will end up like toyota f1.

Audi is set to team up with SAIC, China's biggest automaker, on the development of electric vehicles.

"The move was confirmed by SAIC on Thursday in a statement to Bloomberg.

“All stakeholders agree that the Chinese auto market is in the midst of the biggest transformation in its history, therefore we will jointly work on a strategic approach that guarantees our future success,” SAIC said.

No further details on the partnership were disclosed, but Reuters, citing anonymous sources, reported last week that Audi was looking to use an SAIC platform to accelerate the development of its own EVs for the Chinese market, specifically the platform of an SAIC premium EV brand known as IM.

China is Audi's biggest market, but the automaker is losing market share and its current EV lineup has failed to find traction. Audi offers two EVs in China, the Q4 E-Tron and Q5 E-Tron, both based on parent Volkswagen Group's MEB platform.

Audi delivered just over 3,000 EVs in China in the first quarter, versus the more than 21,000 that BMW delivered and more than 137,000 that Tesla delivered at the same time.

Audi has new EVs on the way, including the Q6 E-Tron, but the vehicles face delays due to software issues.

Audi in June named Gernot Döllner as its new CEO after Volkswagen Group president Oliver Blume was critical of Audi's performance, including the delays and sales in China.

SAIC already has joint ventures in China with VW Group, as well as General Motors. The VW Group joint venture dates back to 1985 and handles some production for Audi."

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
