I hate to admit it but certain factions of the media will compare this with the BMW Progressive Activity Sedan (Because they are idiots , Well some of them are) Wimmer goes for the jugular on Autospies commentators which was quite inspiring .

But you do see a similarity in the shape and with the PAS Concept car some minor details such as exclusive Chrome Shadow Paint and detail in the light fixtures and big 20" wheels the same amount of window dressing to disguise the concept from the Production car .

The PAS flown in from Namibia for BMW closed preview tomorrow at the NAIS and then back on a Lufthansa 747 Cargo plane for Frankfurt and then trucked back to Munich.

The question is now Audi have shown their hand, have they completely shown up the Panamera?

Superb front & interior, good rear but the side profile is a let down, although the idea behind it had potential, the execution is flawed because of the roof line wich is way too round in its first part, the glass area could also have been better designed and i understand very much why scott is hinting at the pas.

No.

PAG/VAG are incredibally stretegic in their line-up and the hirarcy goes like this:

Royale(potential Bugatti four door coupe)
Panamera
A7
Passat CC

The Panamera is giant step ahead of the A7 with attributes like Ceramic brakes, reclining rear seats, state of the art expandable rear wing, 500hp engine at debut, custom leather options and LED head lights. Given how more premium the Porsche is the A7 will be for people who can afford a fully loaded E500 while the Panamera will attract those with enough money to deck out an Audi S8.

Audi's hotly-anticipated A7 will bow in conceptual form at tomorrow's North American International Auto Show, and we have the first leaked images of the showcar, dubbed "Sportback." Details at this point remain slim, but as you can see from the photos, all of the major Audi design cues are in play, including a more nuanced version of the brand's horsecollar grille and LED eyelash headlamps.

Still the lambo looks better (no wonder though)

But to rate it amongst these latest 4 door coupes..i must say

3.Panamera
4.Rapide

Not just cause im a MB fan, but i think in 2010 MB will show the industry AGAIn how to make a proper 4 door coupe

The back looks hot.

The rear 3/4 looks terrible.

The side profile looks horrible.

I always liked the monster sports sedan & this thing looks like an absolute performer... I really like it's profile!

Now we have a better idea of how the new A7 will look like!

Pretty much A7 four door coupe = A7 sportback. Not to look like copy-cats Audi have decided to distinguish themselves by adding a new name to the basket of acronyms and body styles, sportback instead of using the over exposed four door coupe definition.

So this is essentially the sportback auto blogs have been talking about, though might be an A5 shooting brake on the pipe line.

Note that there will be a a5 Sportback, different from this a7. a5 Sportback will be launched sooner, this year whereas a7 will be launched next year.

a5 Sportback will be sleeker than this a7 concept.

Front is very nice. A refreshing new direction for Audi.
The rest of the car I'm afraid is not to my taste.
I particularly don't like the side profile, mainly the boot area.

Wow, that's the first time ever that I hear you say that about an Audi.
But you're quite right I'm afraid....when the fancy concept suit is taken off for production, I will hate it too......WAY too much Panamera in this car.

This car looks awesome... except... the wheels... is she supposed to look like a MicroMachine ?

Still prefer the Mitsu Lancer Fastback Smurgee Hatchstuff wagonee... Mainly because of the price and the fact that audis don't like me at all...

I like it... the profile is better that of Panamera, while you still get the useful rear lift gate (probably). Front lights take a little getting used to. The only real thing that bugs me is the "pop-up" MMI display

This thing is friking awesome! I am impressed by Audi. I hope that the A7 will look more like this, and less than the rest of the line-up....
