Don't you think a true car enthusiast would choose an I6 with RWD over a I4 with AWD?

Yes, that's why the S3 will never ever make it to M135i level of coolness and hotness.
We're talking about a one-of-a-kind unique car in this segment vs a remodelled Golf. I mean, LMFAO. Only the VAG fanboys will go for the S3.

It is acually alot more simple Dr. Dunkel. Imagine the M135i with 1 Series Active Tourer design. That would be a hell hot looking sportshatch.

Simple in your fantasy world, yes.

That tells alot.

No it doesn't. It tells us very little if anything.

haha funny but I usually wake up in my bed and when I use my car I often sit inside and drive so I dont see a face very often ;)

Exactly, and that's why the fugly 1er rules so much. It drives a zillion times better than a boring remodelled Golf with 300 hp.

The A3 looks dull as dirt in these pics and the 1er is literally offensive to look at.

I guess I can just say I'm glad we don't have these problems (yet, at least) in the U.S. :D

To all those making excuses for the 1ser sheer fugliness, I will say this: You wouldn't marry an ugly woman just because she knows how to cook and you wouldn't buy an ugly car just because it drives well. Simple as that.

Oh and btw, what if the S3 beat the M135i? If that happens, I want all the "purists" and BMW fanboys to shut the F up and swallow their pride, preferably past sell-by date, so I can enjoy seeing the diarrhoea of excuses.

Dont you dare to compare fine women to cars. ;)
I own previous 1-series and my decision to buy the car was mostly based on how it drives. Looks came second to me. You are obviously wrong with what you just wrote and not as simply as you think. Sorry Kowalski but this wasnt one of your best posts.

For many other, looks also come second. That said, as long has it has a BMW badge, it is ok.

Not my opinion.

I wouldn't compare the joy of driving to the cooking abilities of a not-that-great-looking woman (did you notice the politically-correctness?). I'd more compare it with the sex experience :D

You may not like the front bumper and lights design of the 1er. You may think that in the rear it looks like a Polo. Acceptable. But you can't deny the sleekness of the long bonnet and the small cabin. The nice glasshouse. The overall dimensions that scream RWD. The 1GT does have noticable FWD proportions and so has the A/S3. In that department, the 1er is unique in its segment.

Just like many pick S3 and not the upcoming Golf R because Audi is a finer brand than VW.... (not my opinion)

....and if you are going to quote me dont change what I said. What I said is that I bought my current babybimmer mostly because of the drive and not the looks (this was 5 years ago). Doesnt mean I feel the same today when I buy a car. I would gladly own Astra OPC or Scirroco R and not M135i or S3 because in my opinion both looks much better than the M135i/S3 and what I've read the drive is fantastic too.

Amazing folks. I'm sorry, but I would never ever want a car that I wasn't entirely convinced by when it comes to the exterior. It may be the best drivers car ever but if it looks terrible, then I don't want. Vice-versa too - maybe it's the best looking car ever but is awful to drive. I don't want that either. Ending point, I want a car that looks good and drives great. They are out there. Really, they are.

If only we had more members like this on the forum...

And I mean, seriously! Is your hate towards the 1er so strong?
Answer: YES
Why? Look below.
It's that simple.

It is that simple.
I could NEVER drive something that looks like this. Never. I'm not hating on BMW. I love the M3, M5, M6, the new 3er, her... etc. They are beautiful cars.

But dont give me that nonscense crap that you dont care how a car looks like, just that it drives good. Would you drive a Multipla with a Corvette engine? C'mon. Let's not make this ridiculous.

If the her would look like this, then my vote would go to it.

Have you ever seen the 1er F21 with M-pack in real life??? Especially in Estoril Blue...
I guess not.

I've seen it, I've driven it. And my opinion is the same. So, what's your point?

Thanks for your "answer". You see like a very nice & friendly person indeed ... must be very popular. :)

Interesting that you bother so much about the car you hate & dislike so much. You even went to test-drive with ... Interesting.

Secretly in love with 1er, perhaps? :D

Since usually people don't go checking & test-driving the cars they dislike & despise.

I often go and test-drive Audis, BMW and Mercs, since I have friends that work in the companies. I'm a automotive fan. I can testdrive a Suzuki Alto just for fun, even if I hate the car. So, still, your point is no point.

Yes, dealing & bothering with something one hates is usually pure fun.

My point? I don't get your point here: why do you bother about the 1er look so much. What's the point? "Fun"?

Just as much as you bother to try to tell people that the 1er is not a bad looking car.
