I'm surprised just how close the S3 got in the drag race, yes it did have the added traction off the line but during gear shifts you always see it fractionally gain too but ultimately there's no substitute for capacity and power.

Should been a rolling start dragrace as well. The engine sound coming from the bimmer is just superior compare to S3. And why isnt there a english subtitle?!?!.

Going to be intresting how the upcoming 1M and RS3 going to compare to a A45 AMG.

Frankly like the Audi S4 this M135i is a hard act to follow especially when value for money comes into it, I reckon the journalists will continue to refer back to it when they start testing the next RS3/M1 and A45, they probably will be better but at what cost to your pocket.

There are reasons for this which I explained earlier, launch control, AWD traction and DSG are all playing their part in giving the S3 a fighting chance but as you can see once the speed gathers towards triple figures the added grunt of the M135i comes into its own and no doubt would comfortably help it put clear air from the S3.

I noticed that on the YouTube video there was two BMW logos at opposite corners, that was this all about?

No, because the S3 engine is weak and underpowered compared to M135i....it needs to exploit every advantage it can get to keep a bit in the track.

For example, it's best to take an RWD M135i with manual gearbox and test it in the wet against an automated S3 with launch control. And then of course only check the 0-100 times of both cars.....

The BMW has a big 3.0 liter inline 6. We all know there is far more potential. The Audi engine has a more agressive tune.
Exaggerating is what I do in Internal Combustion...keeps things interesting..
