Comparison tests AMuS & AutoBild - New VW Golf R vs Audi S3 Sportback & BMW M135i xDrive

Once I read that the Golf R had a next generation Haldex system I knew it is going to be superior. The new system can act more rear biased (up to 100% I read). No wonder here.

Haldex is a Swedish company. Say thanks to the swedes :D

I think the term they use is 100% of the available torque can be transferred to the rear but I believe this is also true for the last version as well, I still believe the maximum power split across axles is 50/50%.

In any case we've own both the Mk5 and Mk6 versions of the GTI and in my opinion both has been superior to their equivalent Audis in every way be that sportiest, handling and even composure so to hear the Mk7 is continuing this trend doesn't surprise me at all.

Strange that for AMS/Autobild tests even though the Golf is the lightest car it is considerably slower than the other 2 cars, could it be cause of the 6 speed manual box? The Autozeitung test the Golf is the equal of the other 2 in performance and that car has a DsG box!
Yes, it's all because of DSG and Launch Control. :)

Off-topic but is there laptime for Fiesta ST? :)

Haldex of Sweden no is no longer involved in making passenger car AWD systems. They made the decision to sell their traction division to Borg Warner - them of OEM supplier to VAG fame - at the end of 2010.
All the same, we do have the Swedes to thank for this highly innovative "bolt-on" solution for FWD architectured all-wheel drive vehicles.

Holy crap???? Peugeot? Megaton!

Holy crap???? Peugeot? Megaton!
Yes, and it also managed a faster laptime at the Sachsenring as the Cayman PDK... (comparison is in today's AutoBild Sportscars)

1:40,40 - RCZ R
1:40,85 - Cayman PDK

(ohh and it was 0,5 s quicker than the M235i... :D )

RCZ R = FWD weapon!

My God, the world upside down.

Never in a thousand years I would have believed this if it wasn't black on white! Was the car on slicks? Did they give it nitrogen? 100 hp extra? An extra engine in the back?

Holy cow that Peugeot must be an excellent handling car as it has only 199kw, considerably less than the other cars except Cayman PDK!!

God, I got so many great German tests in the last few days... I'll post all of them as soon as possible

Actually, I am not buying it after some contemplating. That car cannot be faster..

No, mate... it very well could.
The Peugeot is really light, incredibly accurate and balanced.
It's the best FWD money can buy! I just drove the car yesterday... it feels faster than a Cayman... even more than the difference in lap time suggests! I was amazed!
Everyone should go and try this car!

PS: Fiesta ST is still the queen of hot hatches just because the Peugeot is not a hatch.
