Just my two cents.
First of all, the M135i vs RS3:
I personally think the RS3 is the worst planned Audi RS all time. Yes, it has got an amazing engine. But the TT-RS has the same amazing engine and they should leave it like that. I got no idea why Audi took this 2004 platform and created an RS on it. The A3 was already VERY old, when the RS3 got presented. To me, it's a disgrace against the Audi RS brand. It's just the wrong engine for this old car. So, it doesnt surprise me at all, that a 2013 brand new "almost M" by BMW, is the better car. It's lighter, it's smoother, it's never, it's more efficent. Still though, I gotta give it credit for beating the RS3 in a drag race. Didnt expect that, eventhough it was faster in higher speeds.
Then, on the M135i vs new S3:
I think the new S3 is even better then the RS3. It's lighter, it handles so much better, it's newer, and got only 40hp less. So I think it will outperform the RS3, especially in handling, feeling, and that horrible understeer. The latest Audi S-models have proven to be really really good, and I think that the new S3 will follow on that. So, I do expect a damn close fight with the M135i, but I think the Beemer is still slighly faster. BUT, I think the S3 will be a thrill to drive.
Then, I gotta add something to the looks of the M135i. I start to understand the BMW fanboys, how they feel about this ugly duckling. I compare it to the A8 for us Audi fans. The normal A8 is horrible and so ugly, that I cant stand it. They ruined such a great looking car (D3) and did this. I will never forget Audi for that. So, that's how the BMW fanboys feel about the standard 1er for sure. BUT, then it's the new S8. It somehow changes my whole view on the car. It looks muscular, it's low, wide, phat, and straight in your face. Somehow, the ugliness from the normal A8 disappears. And that's how also the M135i differs from the normal 1er. You don't love it, but it grows on you and you accept it, and then you like it!
My two cents.
Maybe the RS3 is not good for handling, but still its fast car. I think you have see this Bilsport.se result for the RS3. And no, its doesnt mean the M135i is faster in the drag race, faster in end of two miles, but after that, what happend?

I would like to see the dragrace from a rolling start. Should be pretty close and M135i might have pull ahead sooner.
It should indeed put ahead sooner, it's significantly lighter, I believe it has more torque and it's gearing is better suited to acceleration regardless of the fact it's an automatic.
I believe the TTRS is much closer weight wise, now that would be an interesting race to see if weight is the major factor at play here.
I will be surprised if the next RS3 has 400hp because my argument would be it doesn't need it if weight drops significantly, so I reckon the gain will be much smaller. As for the S3 being quicker than an xDrive M135i, again I'll be surprised but pleasantly so.
WTH are you talking about ?
PS: I share Tumbo's thoughts on that matter
I also think the S3 will be better than the RS3 in almost every aspect but not better than the M135i(yet not too far away).
S8 = OK, A8 = Not OK; M135i = OK, 120d = Not OK... Agreed![]()
Read and think - read and think![]()
"The Audi S3 will be faster than BMW M135i and xDrive in every categorys. Im sure of that."
I read but to be honest there's not much to think about![]()
^I like my Audis but I just can't see how in the S3 will out accelerate the M135i xDrive, very close to 60-70mph but beyond these speeds I think it will be fighting a losing battle as the speeds increase. On the track and more importantly on the road I think things will be very interesting because this new chassis is by far a better starting point than the PQ34-35 of it's forebearers.
I give you a few examples.
Audi S7 - 0-100 km/h 4.1 s - factory claim - 4.7 s.
Audi TT-RS - 0-100 km/h in 3.9 s - factory claim - 4.6 s.
Audi S4 - 0-100km/h in 4.7 s - factory claim - 5s.
Audi RS5 - 0-100 km/h in 4.2 s - factory claim - 4.5 s.
Audi S3 Sportback(2008) 0-100 km/h in 5.3 s - factory claim 5.8 s.
http://www.autozeitung.de/vergleichstest/kompaktsportler&show=einleitung-karosserie.
And the list goes on.
And we can thanks to Audis new S-tronic-transmission. So the new Audi S3 goes 0-100 km/h under 5 seconds. Easily.
And you're not aware of any BMWs beating the factory times under those same conditions?
The M135i will beat the S3 in acceleration stats, the M135xi will be even further ahead.
Dont forget some Audis like S7 develop more power than Audi claim. Thats what you said in the past. Audi might to the same with S3^I like my Audis but I just can't see how in the S3 will out accelerate the M135i xDrive, very close to 60-70mph but beyond these speeds I think it will be fighting a losing battle as the speeds increase. You can say stuff for the BMW. Will seeIf the BMW M135i and xDrive beating the Audi S3, no problems. But the Audi RS3 comes after S3. And the RS3 competes also BMW M135i. So we can say to M135i - bye bye
