Re: Audi RS2 - Audi RS4 - Audi RS6

Thank you!
You made my evening :)

I have to say that the RS6 looks most boring out of those 3. The RS2 and RS4 B5 are such classics. Somehow, I can't feel that the RS6 has that status yet.

Damn...that was close!!!
What an idiot in that 206!!!

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

That was really close...damn, and the RS driver showed that he was fast...but it looks like it is for most of the people extremely difficult to rate the speed of cars at the fastlane.

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

but if a car drive 300km/h its not easy for the other driver to determine how fast the car is going. 300km/h is A LOT FAST.

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

That a**hole needs a beating for jumping in front of that car. dumbass.

Nice brakes! :D

Oh c'mon, that is just rubbish. I can EASILY see that a car is going FAST. It's just a matter of how good driver you are and how much you PAY ATTENTION.

So you are telling me that you don't see in your rear view mirror that a car is closing in extremely fast, before you decide to change lane?

Think Andreas is trying to say that a car going at 300km/h will be pretty difficult to judge, because you don't have much time to react when the car's moving so quickly.

Exactly. Its a big difference between 150km/h and 300km/h. How many here have actually driven a car in 300km/h or seen a car travel in 300km/h on public roads?
From far distance you cant see how fast a car is going and if they drive fast, you suddenly have them up your butt. Not easy to see to tell unless you have them very close to you.

When you drive in 300km/h, you travel 83 meters/second. Thats fast, think about it.

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

I'm very angry at the few of you who are criticizing the 206 for merging to the left. This kind of cavalier thrill driving gets people killed and helps build a compelling case for a speed-limited Autobahn. There's also a terrible YouTube phenomenon at work here, where people are now purposely holding a dangerously high speed for the sole purpose of posting it on the internet.

If you guys watch the video, you'll see that the 206 was merging over to pass a slower car which was driving on the left. The car had the right of way and did nothing wrong. I was almost killed in a situation like this, and the car was going much slower than 300kph. When you look in your rear view mirrors, you expect to see cars going a reasonable speed. You can't constantly be scanning for the odd maniac who has disabled his speed limiter to impress his buddies.

Let me make this abundantly clear:

1 - You couldn't and wouldn't check your mirrors for this car.

2 - It is suicide and a wanton act of public disregard to drive like this on a TWO-LANE stretch of the Autobahn. Cars are constantly merging around slow moving trucks and normal passing speeds are in the range of 120-160kph.

It's a real pity. YouTube has turned documented speeding into a game of chicken that you broadcast all over the world. If the privelage afforded by the Autobahn continues to be abused you can be sure that laws will be adjusted to eliminate such high speed runs forever.

As an avid leadfoot driver I feel funny being on this end of the argument, but this video threw me over the edge.

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

I think the 180km/h limit on the autobahn is a very good thing and I agree with Osna and J_M.

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

I hope these errant drivers won't mean the end of unlimited speed autobahns. They are so selfish and reckless - I remember watching one video of an RS4 and a M5 swerving in and out of traffic, I could swear a crash would have happened if any of the traffic moved out of their place. Shameless buggers. :t-banghea

Re: Audi RS6 emergency brake!

^^The clip you're talking about Mirage was shot in Russia (i think) so it has nothing to do with Autobahn.

btw...you guys can say whatever you want about public safety and such...but if the freakin' highway is de-restricted than the RS6 is legally in the right and the 206 legally in the wrong.

What the 206 did right there was selfish and breaking a law that (at least in the us) check your F__king mirrors before you merge. Only and idiot would not notice a car approaching real fast to determine that the car will have to brake real hard if your dumbass decides to merge, and that could be a cause of an accident.

If the accident here happened, I would see it as the 206's fault because instead of jumping the gun all he had to do was wait about few seconds for the RS6 to pass...but instead that selfish SOB jumped the gun and switched lanes. You guys can say all you want but the 206 had multiple choices and he made the wrong one while the RS6 only had 1 choice in this situation.

of course, my whole statement is thrown out if in fact that peculiar stretch of the Autobahn was restricted and he was breaking the speed limit.

-Speed doesn't kill people...it's idiots who don't know how to handle speed do.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932.
