Okey folks.

Two classics.

The AUDI RS4 B5 AVANT -
V6 2.7L BiTurbo
380hp - 0-100km/ in 4,8 secs

vs
The new AUDI RS4 -
HiRev V8 4.2L
420hp - 0-100km/h in 4.8 secs

Which one?

Easy. the new one. Why look back?

Well, the Audi RS4 B5 has always been the car I almost fainted when I saw. The car that had it all. It was HELL fast in straights... But had some problems with understeering.

It's really hard to not vote for the B5... but I got for the B7, since it has not the "childhood errors" of Audi. It's like the start of a new era.

Some people like the older cars better than the new ones. ;)

In this case, of course, the new RS4 for me... :eusa_danc

:t-cheers:

I voted for the B5. It looks better for me than the B7. still looking fresh and nice. But i would take it in black, not yellow... :D

Geez, this is tough. Good comparo!

On one hand, the B5 is absolutely gorgeous - dare I say, even better-looking than the B7? It's an Avant, which I really can't resist, and it reminds us of the good ol' days of twin-turbo Audi engines, in this case, a twin-turbo V6.

On the flip side, the RS4 is an absolute masterpiece - heralding the new era of high-revving engines, yet still capturing the essense of what the RS is all about. Dynamically, it's a much better car, for sure, no doubt about that.

But all in all, I'll really have to go for the B5 - it's an absolute classic, and is better looking.

BUT. We'll see if I have to reconsider this decision when the B7 RS4 Avant comes out.

LOL this poll is funny..this is the first time audi has made a true kick ass RS/S car.. so ofcourse the new one

While the new car might be better overall, I don't like what they decided to do with the engine, so I'll have to pick the B5.

I voted for the new RS4...but the old one was one hell of a tuner...MTM RS4  600hp......i read about one RS4 with 750 hp....CRAZY :t-drive:

I would probably go with the B5 if they made it in sedan. I love the B7's interior and it is what captivates me in the end, but if the B5 was a sedan I would definitely go with it.

A few have gone out of their way to make their own.

And BAM! That's my nr1 dreamcar.
The blue one is actually for sale (last I checked) for a really good price. It has 470 hp as a result of tuning by MTM.

The performance gap between the two isn't too incredibly big, however handling wise it's a rift. I'll take the lovely B7.

well as much as i love audi's wagons i prefere the sedans for there performance models just because of the look, not that wagons canot be sporty but sedans just fit the part much better. that b7 sedan is hott wouldnt mind havin that thing :t-drive:

I like the high performance wagon concept a great deal. Mainly because no one really expects wagons to be fast(here in the states at least), so everyone undermines the concept of a wagon, especially when they see one. In these times, however, things may start to change, especially w/ the decline of the SUV. High performance wagons make sense. Better looks, better utility, better fuel economy, and better handling that you could never get out of ANY SUV. If only I understood Americans aversion to wagons?

I prefer the B7. I like sedans better, plus, IMO the overall car is incrementally better in just about every way - balance, etc.

Not to mention I like its looks much more. The B5 RS4 was a stunner for its time - awesome power in a very unassuming package.. but the new one just looks better.

I would have loved to have a B5 RS4, put they never made it to my side of the pond.

I have a new RS4, and can say without the slightest hesitation that the B7 is absolutely magnificent! Ride, power, handling, creature comforts - nothing missing. The newest tests coming out (R&T August 2006) show it at 0 - 60 mph in 4.3 - supercar performance in a saloon.

My seat of the pants dyno tells me it's right there with the Ferarri 360 Modena a buddy owned and certainly faster than my B5 S4 (Stage 1). I have just less than 1000 miles on it, so there's still more RPM range and HP to discover in the next couple of weeks.

The good news for me is that when the snow flies here, my winter beater is still the S4!

I voted for the B7 - naturally.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951).
