It's going to be great:D

The 3-dr will be even better:bowdown:

I suspect the 3-dr will start being tested a little after the 5-door:)

Who even wants to buy this car? The current A3 generation is miserably old and dull now. I can imagine how expensive this RS3 will be, price tag will most likely land at roughly €55 000 which is near C63 and Porsche Cayman territory. It will a flop as I have only encountered the facelifted A3 three times, let alone seen the prefacelifted much these days.

Has the Rs3 been officially confirmed?!

I'm getting suspsions this isn't the Rs3, just a mule for the new A3 or even the new Golf Rs2 (what ever it's going to be called)

I suspect this because the Rs3 will be using the same 2.5 tsfi in the TT-rs and that uses twin exhausts, the mule only has a single box as the back:confused:

Are we in a wild goose chase?

I want one, will have to trade in the K1 for one. I lust after turboed 5 cylinder sex.

Brings my mind back to the Ur Quattro days :eye8:

TTS has 2 twin exhausts. Same engine as my cupra but I have one oval, in which there are 2 exhaust pipes.

Purely cosmetic. From a functional viewpoint it only needs 2 exhaust pipes.

When I say twin exhaust, I mean One oval exhaust on each sides which the TT-RS uses.

This mule only has on back box at the rear.

Audi is aiming to take Europe’s hot hatch ranks by storm with a new twin-turbo 2.5-litre, five-cylinder RS3 performance model.
Set for launch towards the end of 2012, this rendered image shows the new four-wheel-drive hatchback, which forms part of a wider range of models based on the next A3, due in early 2011.
Fitted with a new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a torque-vectoring differential, the range-topping RS3 looks set to give the new Ford Focus RS and upcoming Renaultsport Mégane 250 some stiff competition as part of Audi’s effort to further extend the appeal of the A3 — a model that has proven vital to the company’s fortunes since its introduction back in 1996.
The Audi RS3’s engine, shared with the TT RS, produces 335bhp and 332lb ft of torque. It promises to provide the RS3 with the sort of performance to challenge the rapid BMW 135i Coupé, as well as the current hot hatch king, the Focus RS.

Report: Audi RS3 Coming To Frankfurt Motor Show

Earlier this year, Audi unveiled its stunning new TT-RS, and now it looks like the new RS3 spied back in March could be coming to the Frankfurt Motor Show. This is good news for the legions of Audi fans who have long been waiting for the company to stick its 'RS' performance badge to the back of an A3 uber-hatch.

The new RS3 would be part of Audi's largely unhindered new model onslaught, which has weathered the economic storm of the past 12 months better than most, despite facing some delays. On the other hand, there isn’t really much development for Audi to do but tune up the handling and aerodynamics of the hatch and shoehorn the same engine found in the TT-RS under its hood. As the spy shots show, the car itself bears no serious exterior modifications yet, indicating all of the mechanical upgrades will fit within the current car's shell.

The area where the current S3 has its foglights is blacked-out on the RS3 test mule, however, indicating there may be something behind the front fascia taking advantage of the modified airflow. At any rate, a redesigned, slightly more aggressive front-end for an RS3 version is almost a certainty if the car does come to market.

Output from the turbo five-banger would likely be the same 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet found in the TT-RS, which should be enough to propel a RS3 hatch from 0-60 mph in about five seconds. However, there’s a chance that Audi may water down the potency of the engine in the RS3 so it doesn’t step on the toes of the TT-RS, despite the very different body types and target markets. Even with 'just' 300 horsepower and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive, the RS3 would be a daunting rival for the likes of the Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi Evolution X and Mazdaspeed3, especially considering Audi's premium positioning.

With the premium hot hatch segment remaining fairly sparse these days, an RS3 model from Audi would also give the company bragging rights against rivals like the BMW 135i. Production of the RS3 still isn't completely certain, however, with company officials keeping mum on the subject. Today's report from Sweden's Auto Motor & Sport, however, indicates that the RS3 is indeed on its way.

"However, there’s a chance that Audi may water down the potency of the engine in the RS3 so it doesn’t step on the toes of the TT-RS, despite the very different body types and target markets"

Seriously doubt it cos the TT is so much lighter than A3 so maybe not watering down but rather leaving the engine the same as TTrs.

The next generation A3 is around the corner. I know RS cars usually come out around the end of a life cycle but why release this now. Just put the TT-RS engine in the next generation A3 and bring out an RS3 earlier in the A3 model life cycle.

Swedish AMS also wrote that the engine would most likely be tuned up for the RS3. Giving is an official number of about 350 hp but in reality likely closer to 400, bringing the 0-100 down to the same as for the R8 V8.

So, what SAMS writes will have to be taken for what it is...

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
