Audi Quattro hits the chopping block - report

Company wants to build another crossover instead

Audi has reportedly decided not to build a production version of the Quattro concept.
Car Magazine says the company has determined there isn't enough demand to support the proposed sports car. Instead, they want to offer a Range Rover Evoquecompetitor which could be called the Q-Coupe.
Little is known about the model, but Carsays it will have sporty styling and a rakish roofline. It could be based on the Q2 and feature a turbocharged five-cylinder engine which would be connected to a seven-speed S-tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system.

If Audi want build another crossover. I think its going to looks same as this one. Doesn't it looks like a crossover?
Maybe its use Q35(Q-Coupe) name, and it has same engine what TT-RS has. Will see.

Crossover is bullshit. I don't care the X6 M is fast, COG is high. Same would be for this Q-Crossover. If the old Quattro was high it was only for ground clearance in rally, but that has nothing to do with "crossover". In no way I find the Quattro COncept looking like a crossover. It looks like an even more sexy Scirocco, but it is lower than TT.

I mean in that Autobild-article. Look at the picture.

Original Sports Quattro was set high rather but it wasn't any "crossover", for sure. Maybe it's about something like this?

Nonsense. It was never high and was never meant to be a cross over. It was just like any E30. In fact, the Ur-Quattro was about 1350 mm high, the E30 was about 1400 mm high.

I now reckoning it was only a testbed for the next A5......now there's a thought. ;)

What testbed? It was just a shortend A5 with more exotic/lighter matrials. But I am looking forward to the next A5, the 4 Series has put the design bar very high IMO, less the interior.

Interesting. No matter how beautiful the 4 series is, the A5 is still one of the sexiest and best designed cars out there, and hasnt aged a bit.

Thanks to LEDs. The all fresh F30 looks like its 10 years old, because it has no LEDs. :D

The presentation of this car at the IAA 2013 would be a very appropriate vehicle for the purpose of promoting Audis' announced design signature revisions. Various elements such as the front facia with its' shallow, horizontally accentuated headlamps and vertical side air intakes as well as the precisely indented shoulder line and ascending concave lower flank with sharply finned rocker panels will familiarize consumers with various themes that are sure to appear on most future Audi passenger cars. In addition, recent "chatter" regarding future Audis' appears to have become a bit SUV "heavy". I am pleased that Audi does not appear to have neglected sporting and elegant coupes/cabriolets/sedans in its' planned portfolio.

WTF? Really? Best News Ever!

Audi 2 : 0 BMW

This is something that should have been heard at BMW, not Audi. Audi has their R8 and their TT-RS (that I don't like), but BMW has nothing.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
