Concept Audi Concept C

Future car concepts, design studies, upcoming tech, and what may come next
I agree; however, in the absence of a modern A8 to broadcast technological expertise, or a halo model like the R8 or more attainable TT to project sportiness and market desire for the Audi brand, I think the Concept C (or possibly rumoured for years R4) may lay the first stone to achieving required improvements in Audi brand desirability and to manifest new customer interest and higher brand status.

My hopes for Audi lie in the presentation of the first scheduled "Radical Next" sedan/Sportback and Avant, the SSP architecture-based A4 etron. If well executed, it could trigger the same sort of enthusiastic response that welcomed the B5 A4 back in the mid-1990s.

As for a new EU/UK/North America "halo" model : It appears that it will be either: a.) the allegedly planned and placed SSP+ successor to the current J1.2 etron GT...or...b.) a large, SSP+-based sport/luxury slightly elevated ride height crossover shooting brake ...or...both.

Currently, too much indicates that a new A8 sedan's domain will be a Chinese-market affair, courtesy of SAIC-AUDI. The presentation of a large SAIC AUDI sedan, C-or D segment, is reportedly planned for this coming fall. It will complement the E5 Sportback and E7X SUV models.

This car needs a straight 5 or 6. Period. The design is hott, but the Duracell powered motor isn’t.

I actually really like what Bembli has done with the front end of the Concept C:

Rumours strongly suggest that the upcoming SSP/SSP Sport electric architecture will provide a far more versatile design canvas for new VAG executive/sport luxury vehicles, and that Audi, Posche and Bentley will exploit it. Exterior design will become an even more significant factor regarding the development of these vehicles. Apparently, sedans and estates will feature the more desirable "longer hood, cabin positioned rearwards, lower, sectioned silhouette" architectural theme.

This, in tandem with Audi's upcoming "Radical Next"/Clarity" paradigm, could be very enticing. Ideal would be the banishing of pudgy, FWD-like cabin forward visuals.

We shall see in 2 or 3 years, the SSP Audi A4 etron being the first example.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
