Yes, that is a good point, it is an adaption of an existing model after all.All I know is, the guy who designed that 6er GT is a frikken legend.
It must be the one of the most difficult concepts to style given the innately unwieldy proportions borne, in turn, out of necessity to satisfy the capaciousness brief.
I still think the 6er Gran Coupé is one of the very best looking 4-door cars in the world right now.
When is the new model due?In M6 GC form with its' wider track, it certainly is absolutely gorgeous.
When is the new model due?
Thanks for that. I am a little bit behind on BMW newsShould the M6 GC be replaced, its' successor would be the M8 GC (that is, should the 8 series GC get greenlighted for production). According to speculation in the automotive press, mid-2019 appears to be the approximate presentation date for the 8 series GC-with the M8 GC following in early 2020. All conjecture at this point.
No it never does. It still is and will be perfection. It just never seems to get old, does it ?

There you go with your usual self, arguing for the sake of it and trying to get validation for your opinions from other members.LOL at @hovabongZA
Why are you not saying the 6er GC is the rival to the A7?
The 6er GT is essentially a 5 Series with a higher driving position and more leg room. The A7 takes the A6 as its base and does the OPPOSITE, namely lowers the roofline, and makes it a sportier A6.
Not really sure what you're talking about to be honest and neither do most other people from the look of it.

It is an interesting argument. There you go with your usual self, arguing for the sake of it and trying to get validation for your opinions from other members.
Cool, you think the 6GT is not a competitor to A7, I think it is. Clearly we won’t agree on this so don’t drag it .Let’s leave it at that ....capisce?

It is obvious that Audi are wanting the A7 to be seen as a stand-alone model rather than a 4-door coupé of the A6. This has to be emphasised when this new A7 is being released before the next generation A6. The 6er GT sits in the A6's segment - whereas the next 6er GC (as Jimmy informed me above) will become an 8er.
You are correct about the release of the first generation A7.That's irrelevant. How Audi position the A7 has no impact on whether the 6er GT is a direct rival and THE BMW competitor to the A7. It's not. Period. And the previous A7 was launched before the A6. A launch date doesn't indicate anything.
The 6er GC is the direct rival to the A7, and when production stops BMW will not have a direct rival to the A7. When the 8er GC is launched, that may too be a direct rival to the A7. Just because BMW stick a number "8" on it won't change that.
You are correct about the release of the first generation A7.
However, I do believe the A7 is perceived as being closer to the A8 than the A6 (almost like a 4-door coupé A8). I also believe the 6er GC is perceived as being closer to the 7er than the 6er GT.
Well now you've made me curious.Don't fall for the BMW marketing. If anything the 6er GT is closer to the 7er than the 6er GC is. Just because BMW stick twenty thousand big ones on to the price tag of the 6er GC, it doesn't make it similar to the 7 Series.
