But who says the CLS was ever meant to be curry? Is it not perhaps more duck l'orange?

I have never heard of that dish but Googled it. I guess it's the posh version of a chicken roast with parsnips/carrots. #EndofFoodMetaphors

The previous CLS models bet big on detail and had creases here and there. With the 3rd gen I feel as if Mercedes changed the recipe by back peddling or surface detail. However I reserve my full judgement until I've seen it as the big rear overhang, shape of the boot and tail lights might be alluring in person.

I've got no f#cking idea what you @Centurion, @Jimmy and @martinbo are talking about. All I know is that the "fancier" the food, the more overrated it is. This is why I would rather have a medium rare steak on onions over any fancy dish.

Anyway, as for these two cars, I prefer the CLS over the A7.

...and as eye-appeal is of paramount significance as a criteria for "sedoupe" segment shoppers...And as neither the series II A7 nor the C257 CLS embody that characteristic of being visually convincingly immaculate...I could be inclined to go for...

THIS. And call it a day (until something better comes up).

Not to fret ! There is a McDonalds in your immediate vicinity.

The C218 CLS could be likened to Creole jambalya. The C257...porridge ?

The problem with THAT is that it looks better in pictures than in the tin (where it comes across as decidedly conservative). Great car, no doubt - and more in line with my old fart tastes - but one does have to appreciate that both the A7 and CLS are more visually arresting.

...or steamed cod ?
Similar yet scaled up and minus the fins and gills of its competitors.

If the E-Class is roast chicken and the CLS duck l'orange - then yes, good analogy [though neither car can be thought of as fowl.] #FoodMetaphorsResurrected

I said visually arresting as in the "dramatic sense" and not necessarily better looking which is a subjective perspective. ;) I'm still a 530d guy!

Good for you, i won't kill you. :D

While you mention 530d, even my wife's F10 530d looks beter... :D

I am truly an old fart. And I do tend to appreciate "more conservative" approaches to automotive design. But I like that measured application of sinew and tendons to envigorate traditional 3-box (or 2 1/2 box) designs, making them a bit more "ripped". Definition rules !

Yes, like most cars, the G30 is spec-sensitive. But I perceive it to be lesser so than its' M-B W213 peer. And I appreciate current BMW interiors. Thus, the G30, for me, would be a very viable compromise vis-a-vis the M-B and Audi sedoupes.

Until you see pics on Facebook of me and Betty having a cozy dinner. :watching: :blackeye:

Sorry for going off topic: i do not have my old FB profile anymore, they've banned me for swearing at Croatian journalist and government... :D I have a new one, i'll send you request... You'll see my little son on my profile pic... ;)

On topic: nothing and nobody is worth killing my best mate around here... :t-cheers::t-cheers:

Ah - still love you too you big brute!

PS - that's a fukken funny story. Only you. I'll look out for you on FB but I'm not active on that horrible platform anymore to be honest.

CLS for me,without a doubt. The A7 is very busy design wise and the interior is boring and too clinical to me. The CLS has a gorgeous interior and has a striking and stunning shape. Shouldn't we be comparing the A7 to the 6 GT? Those two seem more comparable, IMO...and in that case I choose the A7 over the 6 GT.

No. In modern buying-pattern terms they're rather apart from each other.

Indeed. Most compelling testimony may be the recent sightings of second-gen RS7 prototypes.

I doubt that we will be seeing bonafide 6er GT M-cars.

Please lord no. "The unequivocally, undeniably, never seen before, brand new M6 GT."

Suspect I am plagiarising @Matski here. Apologies for my lack of originality if so.
