A3/S3/RS3 Audi A3 Cabrio (Info, spy pics & impressions)

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
I don't really get it.
Is this the front of the new A3 or is it just a 2nd facelift?
I think it's quite late to bring out that car if it doesn't wear the new suite. how long have the A3 been in the market? 5 years?

It says "Camouflage Removed by Computer".

The A3 cabrio was supposed to be based on the next A3 according to my info.I will be a stupid decision if it has the same front with the current model.

If they came with a different design for the cabrio the hatch & SB would instantly look dated. So, IMO, the design will stay almost the same.

Perhaps with new Mk3 A3 the cabrio will get extensive facelift - to fit in the Mk3 A3 family better.

Same case with 1er coupe & cabrio: I wonder what will happen with these cars when Mk2 1er hatch arrives.

:t-hands:

PS: today my coworker said Audi design could be labeled as "Triple B" (BBB): "Beautiful But Boring" :D ;)

I understand the logic in bringing out an A3 Cabrio. However I hope this will be a Mark III A3. Unfortunately I don't think it will be as the hatch would be surfacing first. However Audi have gone to great lengths in preparing the factory in Brussels/Hugary (can't remember where now) to build the new A3 Cab but from the spy pics new car looks more or less the same with different front and rear lights. Sure it will still look good as the finished product but 1er cab looks slightly better. Was expecting a bit more though especially with the cost savings of not developing a hard top convertible however with Eos already developed I doubt this would have been too expensive if that avenue had been taken.

Lets see what Audi will end up giving us with the final product ready A3 Cabrio

Another A3 cabrio prototype was caught in the open road and this time Audi's new model is almost undisguised...

Any presentation dates?Tokyo?
Audi are acting very strangely with this car.
On the one hand they are best at keeping there secrets when it comes to design (we haven't seen anything of the A4 till it was presented) but on the other hand this car is driving around totally naked.

Same happened with A5 which was driven even in the streets of Paris.:D

The difference is that A3 cabrio and A5 had no existing cars to replace while new A4 couldn't had been shown earlier cause the B7 A4 was still on sale.

I like the side profile fo this car and its starting to grow on me now. Will definately consider purchasing this car if it is on the roads before Sept next year

So is this what the next generation A3 will have? Don't tell me this is an all new model from Audi again, it is even way less effort than the A4.

On first inspections, Its a very nicer car, it will sell very well with girls.....But on closer inspection i sore the head rest for the back seats be hide the mesh screen......Bit pointless really, because one this pic it looks like there no room at the back at all

Have a look for yourself

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
