Isn't this an A5 cabrio? :D;)

I'm really sick & tired of Audi's unimaginative designs. Yes, their designs are nice & beautiful, but ... too similar across the model line. Finally they made a car that's a bit distinctive (=A5 with specific tail lights, wavy character line etc), yet the next car coming out (A3 cabrio) is already wearing some same design elements (tail lights).

New A4 better come with different tail light design! If coming with same design (mind that also A6 is probably getting identical cluster design) that would be just too much!

Really ... Imagine having several Audi's at home. Would you like to drive differently sized clones? Like I said last time: I guess Audi are so satisfied with current design of core models (excl. TT & R8!), they are afraid to change it much. Yet this what they are doing lately is just absurd. Nation of the clones! :t-banghea

C'mon, Audi. Wake up!

A5 tail lights on the new A3? Thumb down. That's really lazy and boring from Audi's side. Very coward behavior.

Wow , glad that the lights of the A5 (which i like very much) will be used in the rest of the model range. :D

I'm slightly disappointed with this. I was hoping for something more that made this car stand out from the rest. I don't think this will be the final product and the new A3 Cabrio will look different to what we have seen so far. I'm planning to but a soft top next year and this was on my short list but it will have to be more inspiring that this.

So you'd like Audi to stick them on every possible model (excl. TT, R8 & Q7)? I for one really hope it's just A5 and A3 Cabrio, not other models... :eusa_pray

Be sure A5 cabrio will also feature same tail lights. ;)

Also: Huckfeldt portrayed facelifted / next A6 & upcoming Q5 with same A5-ish tail lights. :t-hands:

I'm affraid Audi is shifting from reversed-L-shaped tail lights (A3 Sportback, A4, A6 Avant, Q7) to the shape seen on A5.

If A4 came with A5-ish clusters as well, I'd scream! :D

A5 of course includes the Cabrio. ;) But yes, I'm also very concerned about those Huckfeld impressions of the A6 facelift. :jpshakehe

^wow thats a damn boring car..ohh well.. audi is making good on their promise to expand their range by some 20+ cars..

Excuse me but i fail to see why (for example) C class or 1 series coupe are more "exciting" than this.:D

Because they look a bit different than their siblings. Come on Yannis you gotta be with us on this one. This time Audi has really gone to far. Hopefully they will make it up to us with some new wacko tactic that all their coupes share the same tail lights, while the 4 door ones have their own distinct tail lights. As long as the new A4 doesn't won't come with these tail lights I will be happy.

BTW, why is Audi exposing this car without any camo?

Frankfurt presentation for this baby?

Umm. maybe because they are based off additional bodyshells.
The 1er Cabrio is based off the Coupe as is the Mercedes SportCoupe , but we all know the BMW 1er cabrio will showcase more elegance and a more premium look thanks to the inspirational BMW small cabrio proportions - 2002/E30 - a longer rear deck , steeply raked windscreen and taut proportions and perfect balance than either Audi or Mercedes-Benz.

The Audi whether you like it or not is in execution - a quick fix , And there will be comparisons with oh look VW have effectively replaced the Golf Cabrio - a hatchback with the roof cut off. Then of course the Mercedes C-Klasse using the old SportCoupe mixing the angular looks of the new C-Klasse with the rounded flanks of the old SportCoupe suggests it will look even more awkward than before.

God no....This is too much...What is wrong with Audi??...This why sometimes I have doubts that Audi will EVER become the #1..it's not because they don't have the potential, cause under good, logical hands Audi could pull it off. I don't see how making all their cars look the same is going to help them. Seriously, I like Audi..but they just can seem to do anything right (Future development wise). If you take a look at the A1 sketches, they have the rear of the A5, the Huckfelt impressions of future Audis have A5 written all over. This is why they will never achieve their goals in the US...I thought the A5 was the end of all this..but it seems to be just the begging...

Competition is getting tougher in the upper segment, Jaguar is getting a lot of attention for their future plans, Lexus is growing, Mercedes is stepping up there game, and there is a trend for reshing, modern and edgy designs (we ARE on the 21st century, we want our cars to look like it). BMW has being able to see this and taken advantage on this. Mercedes made clear that this is what people want, and what they will provide, look at the S class the C class CL etc. Audi needs to pump it up..or else it will take a toll on them. They got away with the A3 sportback, A4, A4 Avant, A6 Avant, A6 Allroad, Q7 rear end...will they be able to pull it again with the A5ing of their line up?..I'm waiting for the A4 to think about it... but so far... I don't think so...IMO

Ouch! :t-banghea

Very odd proportions with roof up. Looks like a hatch-cabrio. Not a good sight at all. Shoulder line is way too high - very hatch-ish. Reminds me of old Golf cabrios, and MINI cabrio. Looks much better with roof down.

But I'm sure it will sell well nevertheless. It's an Audi after all! :usa7uh:

VW and Audi had better be careful here. I think I'd rather have an Eos.

A very thought provoking post.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
