Y,all like it?

It baffles me how top class designers aren't aware of this problem when even some dudes in a forum instantly recognize this issue. I mean don't get me wrong, I hardly find the Ferrari 12 Cilindri's design appealing, but at least it looks nothing like a Roma or a Superfast for that matter.

Part of the reason why I believe Aston Martin's deppreciate so fast is because the various cars in their core line up lack uniqueness. Because why should one get a new Vanquish when the previous gen DBS looks identical to the untrained eye of the general public.

I guess the reason for this dilemma can be largely explained by their financial troubles. For a lack of better words, Aston Martin is in deep shit and they need to turn a profit, and fast! Thus, they can probably lower costs and increase margins by using as many identical components in their mass production models as possible. This explains why we have ZERO variation in headlight, front grill and interior design across their core line up. However, this also comes with downsides as stated above.

For their special program (such as the Valkyrie, Valhalla, Valour etc.) this isn't as relevant since they can charge a huge premium (due to exclusivity) which easily offsets the increased costs of special parts in production.

What do you think? Do you agree?
I think Aston Martin’s problem is that the original DB9 and Vantage have refused to age in a bad way. Whatever they design will be compared to those cars and it’s proven to be difficult to move on.

Mercedes had the same issue 30-40 years ago. Bruno Saco designs were the crown crewels of automotive design and copied by lots over. Mercedes struggled to move on as the W210 eclass was ugly and the W202 C-Class looked like a hybrid between the present and past. However, after two generations the brand managed to carve a new design identity. Aston Martin needs to go through the pain of doing the same.

Yep, the DB9/Virage was a genuine masterclass in timeless, elegant design. Since then, there has simply been "too much going on" regarding some details of Aston-Martin cars. Too many vents, exaggeratedly increasing size of grills, etc. Especially the Virage is, IMHO, one of the most beautifully penned automobiles EVER.

My favorite version of the DB9 is the Virage as well. The design is pure and it’s belief defying that it’s more than 10 years old.

I like the original DB9 and DB9 facelift #1 the most. Not a fan of the triangular headlights that the facelift #2/Virage brought a long, felt those were most fitting on the Rapide only.

Its super long, definitely has a strong presence, doesnt look your average Super GT.

I thought this will be a heavy facelift like the DB12, but its a new beast. Compared to the DBS Superleggera this is more similar to the Maybach Vision 6 imho, like a supervillains car…

Thats how the side view of the front engine Ferraris must look like. And not the rear less, a shoe looking bs they have now.
Love this Aston.

If it weren't for a few details such as the front wing vents (body color option could help significantly) and the tad too large grill, this would be sooo close to "perfect". Regardless, I find myself absolutely loving it.

Just like I suspected in my previous post, a cut price Zagato, even down to the paint job, wheel colour and tail light LEDs.
