Thanks @bmwz4coupe and @Design FIRST - this is what I was interested in seeing:

Frankly, it's bloomin' weird.
Yea, it's a bit odd, but part of the appeal for cars in that strata are having features that are bit odd and out-there. As long as it doesn't impede the actual function (opening the trunk and then putting cargo in there) with needless steps and unnecessary procedure, then that's the best kind of supercar quirk. From an appearance point-of-view, it gives it a cleaner look by hiding the shutlines of the trunk from a dead-on rear view. I would probably for with either a body-color look or perhaps glossy or matte black for the surfboard panel.

I can see the justification for a person of serious $$$ to have one at each residence. Just wait for the Volante……

I am torn as to whether the face looks best with a long bonnet or the tighter proportions of the Vantage.

I am coming around to the Vantage and DB12 visually now. I wasn't enamoured with the rounded lights which felt like imitations of modern Porsche’s. They now have a comprehensive line up of models that reflect the brand visually. That I ask myself? Do they need another Rapide?
