Vanquish Aston Martin Vanquish Gen 3

I see Volvo saloons in the rear.

Perhaps the EX90 as well.

There is even a trace of that Vanquish "surfboard".

The interiors through the generations take me back to when someone cut the leather off the key fob to reveal “Volvo” underneath during Fords VAG rivalling PAG era.

And that's how you vanquish a Ferrari 😁
If only the instrument cluster were analog.

I can’t believe it but I do like it a smidge more than the Ferrari. Both cars an are must for $$$$ car enthusiasts. Tho I suspect seeing the Ferrari in person will change my opinion.

I can't even compare the two. This is just a modern Aston that I can't help but see influences from other cars, whereas the Ferrari draws on nothing but Ferrari and looks to the future.

Like Mercedes has achieved very well with 'Sensual purity' on some models, there is a cleanness to the Ferrari that is just FRESH.

There is without doubt BMW in that design.

This panel treatment has been seen on other brands previously. And those light graphics are going to look so 'nightrider' in a decade, if not already.

Rarely do I disagree with you, but I don't see any BMW in that shot. I see a rear fender haunch that any Aston could have, BMW doesn't have a lock on that at all, nor did they originate it. Some similarities are out of necessity, in this case trying to cover the wheel etc. Now when you say the Ferrari is "fresh" which I agree with, it sounds like a line from the long gone BMW apologist, but in this case it isn't for compensation for an ugly car.

Well, maybe nuances when comparing the G15 8er with the new Vanquish. Rear haunches and some elements of the flank sculpturing.

I agree. Actually, if one squints, one can see elements that are presented on the Virage of the late 1980s/early 1990s. The tapering of the rear of the glass house flowing into the rear deck with a vaguely angular, aftwards widening haunch ledge.:

But sure, if one goes through the expansive catalogue of automotive design elements, similar examples can be discovered that are not confined to BMW or A-M products.

I'm never going to be a 12Cilindri customer. So, with no skin in the game, nor any loyalty to this prancing horse, I have no need to be an apologist.
From my perspective, the Ferrari is not only more modern and forward-looking fresh , it's also the better looking car by virtue of its originality and novel lines - especially the roof-rear of the coupé.

Ferrari has, more than any other car makers, championed the approach of making every new car model look new and different. The Vanquish has a pretty front-end but it’s very similar Vantage. Meanwhile, the 12Cilindri is unmistakable for any other Ferrari.

Subsequently the Ferrari range is probably the most disjointed in terms of design aesthetic at this price point.

Yes, I suppose so. But then again:
- Nothing looks like a 296
- Nothing looks like a Purosangue
- Nothing looks like an SF90
- Nothing looks like a 12Cilindri

I have no issue with Aston Martin sticking with an aesthetic continuity in their models - they still make beautiful cars and if it ain't broke...

But I don't know what it is about Ferraris... Their allure is just on another level.

It's fashion. The ultra-rich like it when it's visible that they have the latest and shinest items. When I worked for a luxury fashion retailers, many of the top customers outright never bought previous season clothes. They always wanted the latest, no matter how ugly or pretty the fashion was.
