AMS: Audi RS6 vs MB E63 AMG S vs Jaguar XFR-S vs BMW M6 Gran Coupe

Now don't be like that on the RS6. Have you seen the reviews that Chris Harris (and some other tests) did on the RS6, saying it's the best Audi after the R8, not understeering so much? So, what I am saying, is that maybe RS6 did really deserve to win here? It seems that this RS6 goes back to the joy days of the RS4 B7. My two cents.

Chris Harris tested the CLS SB against the RS6... He noted that the CLS has much better steering and firmer brakes than the RS6.
He also said the quality of the interior was much better. He basically chose the Audi for it`s gear-box, speed advantage and sexy packaging. -Doesn`t sound to me like the RS6 really owns this segment like some want to believe. It`s all objective...

He also said the RS6 rides well, handles well in all weather condition too.

From 100 km/h to 200 km/h the BMW strikes back against those AWD monsters!

The M5 CP and M6 CP are just around the corner too for tests now! Can't wait to see those!

You really need to look at the amount of gear changes made by each car to see whether the fact the M6 is actually pulling back time due to it's lack of AWD or some other reason. If it's making one fewer shift then this might explain why it appears to be gaining on the others but by the same token you might see it losing a little in the next 10-20km/h due to it making it's gear shift and the others not.

Regarding the CP models, one could easily said 'why not wait till the RS+ arrives'. Point being there's always something new on the horizon and if you constantly wait for something newer and better then you'll never buy anything.

I dont know why Klier saying they are around the corner. M5 CP already been delivered to various customers. So they are already here.

I don't get this, why would they borrow times as they clearly had all cars available for testing +equipment. Why not just measure the times? Then again I also don't believe that identical times would be otherwise possible.
Because that's the easy way :D Probably even the 3,8 sec 0-100 kph time of the E63-S belongs to the German test, since they already measured that car few weeks ago...

M6 GC in German AMuS / Swedish AMuS:
0-100 kph: 4,1 s / 4,1 s
0-160 kph: 8,3 s / 8,3 s
0-200 kph: 12,4 s / 12,4 s
100-0 kph: 36,1 m / 36,1 m

RS6 in German AMuS / Swedish AMuS:
0-100 kph: 3,5 s / 3,5 s
0-160 kph: 7,7 s / 7,7 s
0-200 kph: 12,1 s / 12,1 s
100-0 kph: 35,1 m / 35,1 m

Since M6 is definitely not winning on numbers, usability or even on value I wonder what their rationale was for awarding it the win? Fun to drive?

I know, but they are just around the corner for 'professional testing' by magazines, against the competition.

Against an Audi and a Mercedes? Clearly it won because it was most fun* to drive....That's obvious :D

*best/superior

Yes, its just sad. It also takes away the point from people who say only same day testing means something as I am betting this borrowing or different day, but same test is happening more and more.

The most telling set of figures in my opinion is when each car was fully loaded.

Left to right (RS6/E63S/XFR-S/M6GC)
0-100km/h (5 persons and full tank): 4.1s/4.6s/5.1s/5.1s

The Audi's time increased by 0.6s, the Merc by 0.8s, the Jag by 0.5s and the BMW by a whole second... WTF happened to the Beemer, I honestly would have thought the extra weight of fuel and 3 passengers over the rear axle would have benefited it's traction like it did with the Jag but clearly it struggled BIG TIME. Did they comment on these figures at all?

Yes, practicality aside the M6 was the most involving car to drive and the one they choose to take home.

BMW doesn't own this segment either.

True, something just does not add up.
Motor Trend placed the M6 coupe 10th in the best drivers car shootout. It was slammed for it lack of driver involvement in that test. Chris Harris noted that the M6 suffers from noticeable torsional flex (more so than the SL63 roadster) which is going to put a damper on it`s dynamics (this is the coupe). What is going to convince me that the 4-door CG is going to feel more dynamic than the coupe. It`s looks??

He also said the RS6 rides well, handles well in all weather condition too.

He also liked the ride of the CLS SB. I`m pretty sure the CLS S-4Matic SB can tackle all weather conditions and still beat the RS6 in handling alone.

Like I said to Sunny. The testers think the M6 was more involving and fun to drive than the rest that's why they choose the M6 in the end. I have read the magazine myself. What MT and Chris think doesnt matter at all in this swedish test.

Quite right, it's all personal preference and opinion as to which is best and the fact that everyone doesn't agree tell me that each of these cars are exceptional in their own right.

I know thay don`t... My personal preference is to round out 5-7 tests from difference journalists of the same car.
I can then make a report card to see the value-points to which car it`s being tested against, using the same method.
The competing car that gets the most value points of these 5-7 tests is the overall winner imo.

Half of Swedish AMS are members of M5 board..

lOl, that just about answers my question.

Sounds more like you put too much trust in carmagazines. Opinions are like assoles, everyone got one.
