AMG Mythos CLE

It’s not complaining every thread is messed with silly crap we come to a specific thread to read bout a specific car or brand everything is not a comparison
It's just one post related to a photo a Mercedes fan posted; I don't think it's a big deal. A little flexibility won't hurt anyone.

Sex is back!! The world is healing.

Will it have the new flatplane crank V8 or the V8 from the AMG-GT55
What's with the flatplane hype ?

I see online , every article mentions "new MBs engine with flatplane crank"

But as far as I know , there are just ...different...(vs cross )

Benefits and downsides on both sides.

Am I missing something with this announcements?

Different firing order. Potential for higher revs. Better throttle response. But it sounds different.

But also more vibrations , harshness , engine noise , increased wear , etc.

It's good for racing cars , but why would it be good for S class , for example? (like I read lately )

I am sure the engineers at Mercedes would not put a V8 in the S class which would cause more vibrations and noise in the. S class

I guess we will have to wait for the production versions

I think the hype is more Mercedes are back with V8s rather then flat Plank or not

Excellent point. The variant one in the S might use a balancing shaft or other means of reducing vibrations.

Don't know exactly. But the report suggests it's better for emissions.
That makes sense.

We will live to see .

What AbsoluteUnit said makes perfect sense . For it to have Euro7.

And many other articles , point this out : "huge update , because it will have the flat plane crank"

Every . Single. Article.

Yes , it has the V8 also , but why point out the flat plane so often?

Flat crank does not look to fit a S class. It's best suited for race cars

But again , as AbsoluteUnit said , it could be due to emissions .

Let’s make major changes to an engine in our flagship sedan and not promote it. Makes sense. Maybe Mercedes should limit the number of press outlets that can report the changes. I’m sure I don’t know what the changes mean but they have to be bad for the car.

The V8 being flat plane is discussion worthy on the basis that it's different from what Mercedes/AMG would normally have done.... not on the basis of what it is, just on the fact it's different. The only difference it'll make to most people here will be that it won't sound like a typical AMG V8.

Though apparently they have a patent on exhaust gas routing to try and mimic the burble. No idea if that's implemented. Will be interesting how the induction noise and exhaust noise would be different.
