Rumors All that Talk about a BMW Supercar

Unconfirmed reports, insider speculation, leaks, future model expectations, and discussions about what may be coming next.
Bigger pic shows too many tunning details, yep. But I like the overall idea of a much more aggressive bumper both front and rear.

i8 has some killer proportions, but the some details could be taken into the next level IMO.

Apparently those who have seen the car say that it carries a futuristic looking aerodynamic packet than even the i8.
The air curtains are apparently much larger than the i8s mere slits and are similar to this and are more concentrated on each side rather than the central section. They even say that it looks even more futuristic and out of this world than the i8.

If there's one thing that i would have liked to stay on the production car, it would have been the separated quad headlight of the vision concept (the first out of the three concepts). But that would also mean a complete redesign of the front as the grill, the proportions and the force lines of the production car like the i8 concept are totally different to the vision concept.

It will have an Autonomous drive feature. It will not only look out of this world but I be able to do things that are out of this world.

So the car can time travel, fly and hover like the DeLorean?

Why the f**k would anyone buy a supercar/sportscar and not drive it themselves?

BMW must be going for the Kardashian/Jersey Shore crowd.

This autonomous driving feature is going to be the next big IT thing in cars in the next 5 to 10 years. I personally think its a load of shite as I want to get in and drive a car myself. To have an autonomous driving sports car is for those lazy people who are so used to been chafeured that they don't want to drive but want the sports car to drive them!

So this car will be able to auto drift and slalom like the M235i @ CES Las Vegas?

I have worked with both a OEM and several Tier Ones in Active saftey and weather we like it or not Active Safety will be a big part of the cars of the future.

Collision mitigation by brakes might be the difference between walking away from a car crash or dying in it.
The cool features will probalby just utilize some of the standard sensors soon to be demanded (or Points will be awarded if you use them) by NCAP/NHTSA.

Autonomous driving ... It will be mostly limited to traffic jams on highways and congested traffic on main city roads. The autopilot function will only work up to 60km/h only anyway. We already have Traffic Jam Assist systems, and those will be enhanced in the near future to become true autopilot functions. It will be a safety & convenience feature limited to certain situations. And there will be an fully automated (remote) parking function.

I don't call that being able to do "things out of this world". The other usual suspects are already able to do so.

Can you summon you car? If we get perspective about sports car 10% are bought by enthusiasts the remaining 90% by social climbers who are more interested in the bragging rights and status and the fact it can match your wardrobe other than what the car is intended for.
The autonomous feature will be the bragging feature so your car can give you a batman-esque or even bond-esque complex when you remotely operate your car outside a public place of send it to charge.

I'm sorry Scott, but as I've long since suspected from your posts, you don't have a single drop of petrol in your veins, and you come across as a 100% marketing man who would be as happy at Apple as he would be at BMW. You just don't seem to "get it".

You know what the real problem is with this statement? BMW used to make cars for these 10% of customers because that is what BMW used to stand for, the ultimate driving machine. The remaining 90% will buy the car regardless. Take Ferrari, Porsche, and Mclaren, (the LaFerrari, 918, P1) they don't care if 90% of their customers are show off, rich and famous wannabe, they designed and built the best car they possibly can, and the cars stay true to the core philosophy of their brand.
