Im really skeptical about that launch date of 2021 is only a year away, no ways they will develop a dedicated sports car in only 1 year. The current economic climate also makes me doubt this will be true.

The year has just begun, full of hope, but I perceive a negative climate here, first that render is not that bad and falls within the rational that is a competitor very much in the line of the AMG GT / 911 / Rome, etc. ("big" market), I hope the Mid engine comes, also the coupe of the render and that promised "dedicated" X8, I think it is feasible, taking into account that the up market strategy of greater profits is giving result and the 8 series, X7 etc, are selling very well

Although I agree that there has been an endless number of lost opportunities, disappointments and ideas that were created just to be taken advantage of by other brands, I am not saying that it is copied only that the ideas are from those who make them, example the resemblance between these ....

That car started out as a Z8 replacement but it’s conceptual form made production as it eventually morphed into the Vision Efficient Dynamics/i8 after intervention from Norbert Reithofer.

Beyond the past, this possibility of a coupe (which I insist on the render looks very interesting), is it feasible?

But don't get your hopes up of this ever coming to fruition. The rendering is clearly based on an image of the AMG GT coupe upon which the illustrator transposed a potpourri of perceived BMW "signature" elements, especially a number of those seen on the current Z4.

I used to be one of the more vocal proponents for something like this. Now if you ask me how man f***s I give about this, it's a solid zero. The window's closed.

Yes, there's still an emphasis on spirited driving at Munich HQ, what with the 3er, the 2-doors, and all those ///M's, but BMW's focus on other aspects, such as SUVs, electric, etc., has frayed that focus. Now, I am not belly-aching that they did that because, whether an enthusiast likes it or not, it's deemed necessary to survive in this market. And possibly they could do something on a no-compromise purely electric manner. At least they can tie its existence to Formula E. But a petrol or hybrid proposition is too late. And perhaps there are those out there that may be interested in what they have to offer in a pure electric effort, and perhaps if they do it right, I might be one. But I am too annoyed with what could have been if they did something 10-12 years ago, especially with what potential they had and especially with how high their brand equity was.

The only car they are talking about in this spectrum is a production version of the Vision M.Next. The successor to the i8.

20.000 units sold, which makes it extremely successful, praised by all, disappoint a little in the "super car" section but did a lot for the innovative image of the brand, pitifully instead of using all that thrust and launch with drums and cymbals in favor, they slowly diluted the EV theme that was the reason for the whole i3 / i8 theme
